Completely agree... unfortunately, what has the most effect on his numbers is the Iraqi carnage shown on the daily news day after day, whether or not it is true.
Things like the port deal were just incompetence from some staff members...

I think the ports deal is a non-story, but the White House has been terrible about dealing with it. As a matter of fact, they are lousy in PR period. It doesn't help that the channels of mass media are for the most part allied against him, but even allowing for that the WH PR staff should be ashamed. And Bush should fire the lot of them.

what is the cycle of a poll? Right after a Bush lied mantra? Weekly?
To: ruschpa
" So you don't think his ratings have taken a hit these past couple of weeks?" Yes, but by 5 points. Down from 48 to 43. This is verified by both Rasmussen and Battleground . You are posting opposition crap.

What I want to know is why people disapprove of him. That means everything. For example, a person can disapprove of the way President Bush is handling Iraq. They might be disapproving because they think we need to get out of Iraq immediately or they migth be disapproving because they think we need another 100,000 troops and to start rolling into Iran, too. That's two totally different things.

And all have oversampled Democrats by 10% or better.

Well, if Bush wants to get anything done in his second term, he'll need a Republican Congress. His poor poll numbers have a direct effect on the mid term elections. If he loses Congress, expect multiple administration investigations and impeachment charges.

With DemocRATS out there all over the place telling the MSM that they are "Republicans who voted for Bush," I can't believe anyone would take MSM "polls" seriously anymore.

I saw the media play this game where they block for the Democrats in several elections: in 2002, they tried to play the stock market and corporate corruption; in 2004-they were disgraceful.
They've been beating up on Bush since the election day and have successfully brought down his poll numbers, a major goal.
Either the Administration is baiting the media into behavior that totally discredits and neutralizes them in the election, or, they are clueless.
I've suggested for months that we take away the poll game by putting out that conservatives are not cooperating with the polls.

He needs to turn it around fast. No, HE is fighting a way. The republicans in congress, who are supposed to be guarding his back, instead are busy shoving a knife into it. That d*mn Snowe with her vicious little committee, all the other so called republicans, are running for cover instead of standing and fighting.

Foxnews had him at 39 for their poll. Which means he's doing just fine.

You do realize that his poll numbers will have a direct effect on the mid terms elections in November, right?
You do realize that poll numbers arrived at with a 27% Republican sampling can't have a direct effect on when the 1st Lady will fart let alone the mid-term elections in November, right?

Yeah, reminds me of a poll I was called for during Clinton's Impeachment. The question was "Would it change the way I voted in the last election, if I had known about the Monica affair." Since I didn't ever vote for Clinton, I said "No". I am sure that my vote was considered a positive for old Bill. Remember how his poll numbers kept climbing during impeachment?

The media chooses to report Iraq in a very strange way. They gleefully report casualties without context. And the media does sympathize with the enemy of the US.
Now, what I would like to discuss is a strategy to put the media on the defensive since they are clearly collaborating with the Democratic Party.
I think Bush gets in trouble when he goes wishy-washy. He is reluctant to take on the press, why?
