03/02/06 FOX Poll: Most Oppose Port Deal; Republicans Lose Ground Thursday, March 02, 2006 By Dana Blanton PHOTOS
Most Americans oppose allowing a Dubai company to run some U.S. ports, even as a majority understands the U.S. would continue to control port security, according to a new FOX News poll. One in four sees the United Arab Emirates as a strong ally, but most either disagree or are unsure.
In addition, the poll shows Republicans have lost ground on the issue of terrorism, and by a wide margin voters now think it would be better for the country if Democrats win control of Congress in this years midterm election.
For only the second time of his presidency, the poll finds that President Bushs overall job approval rating has fallen below 40 percent today 39 percent of Americans say they approve and a 54 percent majority disapproves. Late last year the presidents approval hit a record-low of 36 percent (8-9 November 2005).

The American people don't get to decide this. Not now, at least. They can voice their opinion in November. In any event, I'm glad to have a president who does what's right, not necessarily what's popular.
Bush has engineered the freedom of 60 million people.
Have you contributed to the freedom of even one person?
No, he didn't.
If he did, prove it.
Thanks for the reassurance. You are right, politics is local....at least for the House and Senate.
"Just provide some evidence that this company has acted evilly in the past."
Did you follow 911? The hijackers came to the US via Dubai. The hijackers got their money via Dubai govt banks.
It's a well proven fact.
And no, Dubai Ports is not a company in the sense of say IBM is a company. It's more a company in the sense that the USPS is a company. IOW's we are selling terminal ops to the govt of Dubai. And it's fact that the UAE entity Dubai is a haven for terrorists seeking to launder money thru it's massive banking system. All proven by US investigators.
You can get down off your high horse now. Your claim Dubai is harmless is bogus and proven already by US investigators of the 911 tragedy. All traced back to Dubai.
I THINK we'll survive.
Seconded.
Do you have any evidence to suggest that those hijackers, or those crooked bankers, are in any way involved with the running of this company?
Or is this guilt by association?
(*hic*) Ash I already said, Dom, the shtate of Doobai OWNSH the company. Therefor, it ishn't even a queshtion of prior (*hic*) record on the part of DPWW. The queshton ish, is the SHTATE trushtworthee? Can the UAE, whoosh record ash an "Ally" is checkurd at besht, be trushted on thish? I say "No." And that is the dishconnect hear.
But I must admit (*hic*) Dom, I serioushly enjoyed talking to you. Really. Now Ive gotta go crawl into bed and shleep it off (*hic*) get some resht.

Please provide evidence of UAE government complicity.
If money flowing through networks is convictable, then Citibank should be on the block, since ALL the cash for 9/11 proceeded through a Citi switch.
And if hijackers passing through is the issue, then the City of Boston should be on the hook, since Mohammed Atta boarded at Logan International, a Boston-owned property.
Did anyone else hear the head of the Israeli shipping company singing the praises of DPW security? I guess he's got his head in the sand too, huh?
And goes guess where , to the Dubai port where we lease terminals.
This is not about "free trade," or "capitalism," or any of the other platitudes that this agreement's advocates have been floating-thus far, unsuccessfully-during the past week.
This is a state-owned company that was outbid, and which does not have any right to oversee American terminals.
And I say I'd be *happy* to agree with you -- if you can show me one single shred of evidence to support why you think this company is directly connected to people who support terrorists.
If you're saying, "but there's a distant connection", then I'd point out that driving your car is supporting terrorism, by paying for the oil . . .
You're playing the 6 degrees game. Show me a tangible, real connection of "this guy did this thing", or else it's all guilt by association.
Which is the same technique the Jesse Jackson/Dem race-card playing PC Freepers are now using as their modus operandi.
There's some creepy sycophantic hysteria going on at this site regarding this Dubai issue that I've NEVER seen before.
I truly wonder if some are paid shills.

We are focusing today on one sentence in a two-page U.S. document officially known as number AFGP-2002-603856. It is a 2002 letter in which al Qaeda says that it has infiltrated United Arab Emirates security and other agencies.
The rest of the story http://www.shns.com/shns/g_index2.cfm?action=detail&pk=SCHRAM-02-28-06
Of course to some on here, that's a half truth. lolol
I didn't hear that, no.
Now that *is* interesting.
Maybe he has some evidence that this company is *not* a threat, then?
I can only speculate . . . :-)
If DPW was outbid, how come it actually assumed ownership of the leases to these terminals at midnight last night?
DPW purchased the leases, and the US government is going to have to pay it off with your tax money if it reneges on the deal.
The deal has already closed. DP owns P&Q as of midnight last night.
CASE CLOSED!!!!!!
Let's look at this logically, with the cold eye of reason....
No matter what some might think, FR does NOT a represent the views/thoughts of the American populace at large.
Americans, by and large, have a VERY short attention span.
The port thing WILL calm down way before summer hits and besides, the DNC talking points are back to Katrina and I've no doubt, they'll be back to PLAMEGATE and all of the rest of that stuff in very short order.
And, as I said and you repeated, CONGRESSCRITTER ELECTIONS is a LOCAL thing!
