I wouldn't be surprised if the Secret Service told the King family that either the President would attend or Belafonte, that they wouldn't allow Belafonte in close proximity to the President, and told them to choose.

So, ahh, just about a month after the event, and he's just now saying this?
I think people will draw one of two conclusions from this..
1) No one cared why Belafonte wasn't there, and only now, on a slow news day, does anyone even bother to get around to reading the twenty press releases he's sent out...
-or-
2) Editors around the nation realized that they hadn't had enough Bush is a racist connections in their newspapers, so thus went digging for one to use; it only happened today because the editors also forgot that Black History Month was last month and are fixing to demonstrate that they cover blacks outside of the sacred month.

I'm seriously considering canceling my membership. Any other AARP members considering doing the same? Great Scott, why are you throwing money at that liberal lobbying group?

Just one more reason I'd never join AARP. I understand they also have a problem with the RKBA.

Secret Service doesn't do things that way. They say 'This guy isn't allowed to breach security.' No choices, no arguments. Makes for interesting arguments every time there's a big speech at a black church.

Ahhh, well a silly news release from such a silly man deserves an equally silly response:

MLK daughter is a supporter of the President. No doubt she made the decision and I applaud her for that.
