New York (AP) --
Transit police are dropping charges against a phone repair worker making the transition from male to female who says she was arrested three times in six months for using a women's restroom at Grand Central Terminal.
At a rally, Helena Stone, 70, said one officer called her "a freak, a weirdo and the ugliest woman in the world."
Stone's lawyer, Michael Silverman of the Transgender Legal Defense and Education Fund, said he had filed complaints with the MTA police and the city Commission on Human Rights, whose guidelines say restrooms must be available to transgender people "consistent with their gender identity or gender expression."

This goes right along with the 70-year-old elementary school teacher who came back to school as a woman. What's with these 70-year-old guys, anyway? I better look more closely at those AARP magazines.

Yikes, what's with all these recent stories about 70-year-olds undergoing dickectomies? First the 71-year-old schoolteacher, now this, um, person.

Still looks better than Helen Thomas.

If a man has his genitals sliced off in an industrial accident, that does not make him a "she". If a man elects to have his genitals sliced off (or otherwise "reassigned") that does not make him a "she" either. It's not just a matter of morality or mores or even changing dictionary definitions: it's in the chromosomes that don't change no matter how much estrogen you ingest. It's science fact, not legal fiction.

...said he had filed complaints with the MTA police and the city Commission on Human Rights, whose guidelines say restrooms must be available to transgender people "consistent with their gender identity or gender expression." This means that you don't need any of the "equipment" to walk in the room. If you claim you are expressing your feminine side, you can walk in the women's room.

Their DNA remains the same. They cannot change their sex any more than a person can change his race.

I'd be wary about any 70-year old elementary teachers who are openly expressing their sexual choices.

wouldn't stand up in court? Why not? "She" can still stand up to pee.

It's science fact, not legal fiction. Couldn't agree more with your statement.
However, under the law they are able to be reassigned and lawfully have all records changed to reflect it.
The only records that cannot be permanently changed are military records.

Much as I like women, I don't want to know what goes on in their restroom. I don't want to know about how sausage are made either.
