Since "Free Republic is an online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web. We're working to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America.", I and others think it's a good idea to centralize what the goes on in the Senate (or House).
So if you see something happening on the Senate/House floor and you don't want to start a new thread to ask if anyone else just heard what you heard, you can leave a short note on who said what and about what and I'll try and find it the next day in THE RECORD. Or if you see a thread that pertains to the Senate, House, or pretty much any GOV'T agency please link your thread here.
If you have any suggestions for this thread please feel free to let me know.
Here's a few helpful links.
C-SPAN what a great thing. Where you can watch or listen live to most Government happenings.
C-SPAN 1 carries the HOUSE.
C-SPAN 2 carries the SENATE.
C-SPAN 3 (most places web only) carries a variety of committee meetings live or other past programming.
OR FEDNET has online feed also.
A great thing about our Government is they make it really easy for the public to research what the Politicians are doing and saying (on the floor anyway).
THOMAS where you can see a RECORD of what Congress is doing each day. You can also search/read a verbatim text of what each Congressmen/women or Senator has said on the floor or submitted 'for the record.' [This is where the real juicy stuff can be found.]
Also found at Thomas are Monthly Calendars for the Senate Majority and Senate Minority
And Monthly Calendars for the House Majority and Roll Call Votes can be found here.

Are you hearing Reid? Give me my way on the number of conferees on this pension bill or I'll blame the obstruction on you. He sounds like a 10 year old.
I take it he wants to increase the ratio for dems on the committee. As Frist said, it is the prerogative of the Majority Leader to set the number. If Frist backs down I will go to DC and throttle him.
Reid was up rambling about the Pensions
I suppose the unions are worried about losing all that money ??
Ya know .. I don't remember hearing about the Dems whining and complaining so much during time 40 years they controled Congress before Newit's Contract with America ??
The Dems have done nothing but scream about how unfair republicans are since we took control
We may not be overly blessed in our majority leader, but I must say I have never seen anyone who looks as weak and ineffectual and just plain whiny as Harry Reid. He is simply awful.
Oh he hasn't forgotten .. he just doesn't like the outcome
Kind of like a 5 yr old throwing a temper tantrum in the store when mom & dad says no
So right now are they voting to amend the PA to adopt the changes agreed to with the White House?
I'm not sure on that part
I've been trying avoid the news for the last week and I'm not totally up to speed on what's going on
LOL. I think I can understand that.
I am glad to see you friend....I have missed you!!
I always heard the jokes about how the dems always want to change the "rules" in the middle of the game...
and BOY are we seeing a constant barrage of them wanting to change not just the rules...but LAWS...to thwart everything that President Bush needs to do to fight the WOT.
They are now voting on changing the PA extention conference report
What is the change??
Do you remember that there were a few REP Senators that were holding up confirmation of the Patriot ACT?
Sununu was one..and I can't remember the rest...but, anyway, there were parts of the Act that they didn't like...and so President Bush compromised with them...and so this is the vote to send the Act with those new provisions in them back to the House for approval...
I THINK!! LOL
I have to tell you that this whole Dubai thing has thrown me off of what was previously going on in Washington...so, if anyone who reads this knows different..PLEASE correct me..OKAY!!!
OFF TOPIC
Howlin .. I'm getting a new computer and I was wondering if there is an easy way .. software or hardware to transfer files from one computer to another ... especially my favorites/bookmarks .. that I can get before my hubby tells me we don't need to spend the money because he'll take care of it
I have so many it will take me years to manually transfer them all myself
When I do it, I usually just copy them all to a rewriteable CD, but there may be another way.
Let's ask RedBloodedAmerican.
