Doubtful, as was pointed out in an earlier story.
An AK-47 is a select-fire weapon. Probably a cheap semi-auto copy.

He should have raffled an AR15
Tho I got nothing against AKs

Andrew says he's heard from a faculty member and a student who plan to protest...for more information you can e-mail Andrew at observr@clemson.edu .
The kid deserves a little support.

OK I'm going to say it.
The pro gun crowd have gone over the top on this one. There is no place on a U campus for weapons automatic or otherwise.
If stunts like this are what American students are spending their time on then they are neglecting their studies.
This sort of agit prop nonsense is going is turning American Universities into under performing second rate political mosh pits.
The world is laughing at you and crying for you.

So much fuss over one weapon. And to think this used to be a military school.

I realize that it's South Carolina, so I'll try to get clarification...
Is it a "raffle", a "rifle", or a "raffle of a rifle"?

This guy and his paper need support. Everyone could use another gun. Let's see if FR can't buy more tickets than the students.

Is this the newest version of the VEPR? I have a VEPR II I bought in the last year of the AWB. It doesn't have a bayonet stud, is all black, and the front hand guard is solid instead of ventilated.

Getting back to topic, this is what a WASR-10 looks like:
It is not full-auto nor is the gun being auctioned since full auto "machine guns" have been tightly regulated since the mid 1930's. The WASR-10 is a inexpensive ($275 to $425 range) Romainian variant of the AK style rifle designed back in 1946-1947. Judging by the price paid by Andrew Davis, they are probably "raffling" off one of these.

Rifle raffle triggers ruckus at Clemson so i would suggest checking that thread as well for info on the "raffle".
As for college campuses, you will all be hard pressed to find one that allows student (or anyone) to open carry on campus. It is a liability issue, not a civil rights issue. Most colleges and universities dont want to be held responsible for the shooting death of a student so they enact these blanket laws that cover all firearms (in most cases a "firearm" is "anything that propells a projectile by means of expanding gas" which covers pellet, paintball and BB guns) to reduce their liability in a law suit.
Why "raffle" off a gun and not books? Because it is a conservative paper and he "hopes this event will raise awareness for the Second Amendment". What better way to grab everyone's attention than "raffling" one of the most recognizable rifles of all time?

I hope he doesn't mind me posting this response to my query about buying a few tickets from him.
Sir, unfortunately we've had to shut down ticket sales because of student and faculty abuse of the SC law that says we can't limit the number of tickets sold, nor deny persons tickets without payment. We're seeking out any avenue to prevent further abuse, especially in future events, but for right now we've had to cease ticket sales to prevent further abuse. I apologize on behalf of the students and faculty here at Clemson who have ruined this event for everyone else. But we are are still going on with handing out literature about the second amendment, and going ahead with the drawing with what we have now. Thanks again for your interest.
