Peter King Blames Rush Limbaugh for Port Support

New York Congressman Peter King, who sounded the alarm two weeks ago over the Bush administration's decision to permit the sale of several dozen U.S. port terminals to a Dubai company, blamed conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh on Monday for softening the firestorm of opposition to the deal.

Asked why some hard-line opponents of the Dubai deal seem to have changed their minds, King told WABC Radio host John Gambling:

"I am very disappointed in that. It almost seemed that once the administration started to counterattack, you had people like Rush Limbaugh and others who have just been - ah - I think [they] have gone into the tank, quite frankly."

Limbaugh adopted a wait-and-see posture on the ports controversy early last week, saying that more information was needed. But by Friday he told his audience he was suspicious of the monolithic opposition.

"You remember the movie 'The Perfect Storm'?" he asked. "What do you suppose happens when 2006 politics and a liberal lust for power and longshoreman union power and Bush hatred and uninformed reporting and the GOP's fear of losing power all get tossed into a stew pot, and then you add in a dash of xenophobia and a touch of racism, and what do you get? Exactly what we had earlier this week: the perfect panic."

I used to look forward to Rush coming on the air.
Haven't been able to listen to him lately.

And, to top it off, Representative King is undoubtedly in the crowd who want us to pull out of the Middle East completely, abandon Israel, give Iraq and 60% of potential world oil reserves to the Ba'athist party, and allow the Salafists, Osama Bin Laden and the Iranian Ayatollahs to recreate the Islamic Caliphate.

Why isn't this man in prison for the duration of the conflict?

Oh, come on Mr. King! Do you give Rush Limbaugh all the credit for anyone having enough sense to understand the issue? Not everyone is stupid, you know. Maybe the people in YOUR district are that stupid, but then again, they continue to elect you to office.

that puts it succinctly. Look at who gets to gain the most by embarrassing the President. Schmucky Chucky and Hillary.

Mr. King you have been an ardent supporter of the IRA. The IRA blewup the Canary Wharf at the Docklands. P and O runs some of those terminals. Is there more to this?

He is a prisoner in his own skin.

There is no escape or parole from that sentence!

peter king, a no on the clinton impeachment vote, pro-terrorism advocate for gerry addams and the IRA, and pro-longshorman union goon, is one bitter person, IMO.

King is a solid advocate for the wars in Iraq and Afganistan.

For whatever reason, this deal has gotten to him. I think if this were purely a financial transaction between two public companies, we wouldn't have heard anything about it (much like the other port deals). But because the UAE gov't is involved, it's raising flags.

My guess would be after the 45 cooling off this will probably go through provided King gets his hearings, which he probably will thanks to Schumer and all the other grandstanding left-wing hacks.

Well said. Hannity in some ways reminds of me of Hillary. Shrill and totally humorless.

I agree. I feel uncomfortable with his reasoning at times lately. I feel he is getting hammered via email and back-peddled a bit yesterday.

King's a member of Congress. He gets reports all the time about our heavy use of UAE as our main base of operations for the Middle East.

His support of the war in Afghanistan and Iraq is phoney. The guy has been infiltrated by AlQaida operatives.
