An aircraft carrier is so big that the satellites cannot miss it anyway. Therefore the unfriendly governments have real time info on the carrier locations from Moscow - I could bet you money on it. OTOH, the Trident subs operations are never announced.

Right now, I would be more PO'd at the NYT's relentless pursuit of another issue at this time (.DE intel vs/Irq), that's a foolish can of worms to open up. As far as I am concerned, that is a non-issue.
BTW, absolutely everyone knew when the Reagan was deployed, hard to avoid. Not much can be done, but the silent s. is quite another matter, just a guessing game. Let them guess, and keep guessing and keep 'em way, way off balance. The [real] element of surprise is still golden. I wouldn't worry

Put the right camo on the Lincoln and then ask everybody to look the other way. Works every time

NO!!
You mean the admiral doesn't slip it under his jacket when he leaves???
Seriously, I haven't seen a copy if Navy Times for a while, but I remember them having a graphic in every issue showing where the carriers are.
Of course when operational security requires it, I imagine public announcements of carrier movements dry up.
And a day or two later Mr. Bad Guy wakes up to the news that The Big Scary Monster With Long Arms of his childhood nightmares is steaming just off his coastline just beyond the horizon.

The F22A Raptor's first overseas deployment (later this year) is rumored to be in that neck of the woods too.
