It's Time to Put Muslim Holidays in US Calendars

Dear Muslims in America,

May I suggest that it is time you got yourselves established as part of the American Way of Life, and not people of a religion that belongs to ‘them’ and not to ‘us’.

I have been sending the following email to various calendar makers. You may like to do the same and get your holidays included in the 2007 calendars.

I have noticed that many calendars in the USA list the Christian and the Jewish holidays, but not the Muslim ones.

As there are now 8 million Muslims in the USA, exceeding the 6 million Jews, Islam is now the second most popular religion in the USA, after Christianity.

I feel that their holidays should also be included in the yearly calendars.

Here is the list of Muslim Holidays that could be included on 2007 calendars.

BTW, if you are wondering why the dates of the Muslim Holidays are 10 or 11 days earlier each year, it is because they follow the lunar year, which is about 355 days.

So the dates for 2007 will not work for 2008!

You have a good point. Some holidays are celebrated with violence. It might be good for everyone to have a warning.

Too bad for you the Constitution is still in effect. We're not living in the Soviet Union or Nazi Germany where a class of people can be eliminated because you don't like them.

How about if we just change the Constitution to allow it. Is that OK? All it takes is majority vote, right?
What's the difference? Shari'a law or deportation? What's the problem?

1.1 million (0.5%) according to this data from 2001. That's less than half the number of Jewish and only slightly larger than Buddhist.

I just can't wait to get down to JC Penney's for the Eid al-Fitr sale! Or the all-you-can eat spare rib buffet at Chili's every night of Ramadan!

This "class of people" that you love would like nothing better than to cut your infidel throat. BTW, before they do cut your throat they're not going to ask you whether or not you love them. They're just going to do it and laugh about it. If thats OK for you and your family, I guess thats your business but its not OK for me and mine.
Can't you see what is going on around the world? I don't think the Constitution was meant to be a Suicide Pact.

No, this particular muslim wouldn't want ashura on a calendar of muslim holidays, ashura is a shia event, the sunni maintain the shia are lower than dogs and do not deserve to live.

Are we to have a sunni and a shia calender, perhaps?
