I disagree and think that the likes of Levin and Hannity would love to be wrong on this issue.

I did hear Laura repeat a clear understanding of the facts and admit the deal didn't seem to be as bad as it initially seemed.

Wow. I am glad to hear it. Now if only Sean would open up his closed mind. I think he is not a Rush wannabe but a Mark Levin wannabe.

Irony? Why so?

Some of your friends have called me idiot which you didn't object to

CW, it's not sofaman's job to run around checking on what people are saying to others. Besides, he has enough to do to handle his own incoming.

No one mentioning that Mayor Daley of Chicago leased the tallest skyscraper in town to the Chinese.

Guess that's okay, eh?

The hypocracy of the opponents is rather mindboggling.

Thank God and look at this
"Al Dhafra Air Base in the United Arab Emirates is located about an hour outside of Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates. The 763rd Expeditionary Air Refueling Squadron [formerly designated the 4413th Air Refueling Squadron (Provisional)] conducts in-flight refueling missions throughout Southwest Asia in support of Operation Southern Watch, a coalition force tasked to monitor United Nations Security Council resolutions restricting air and ground operations in Southern Iraq. The Air Force operates KC-10 refueling planes which are involved in sustaining US warplanes covering the southern no-flight zone over Iraq.

and then there are ports, too.

Intensive use has been made of commercial ports, including about 200 calls a year at the Jebel Ali port in the United Arab Emirates. Other important ports [Mina] in the UAE are Abu Dhabi, Al Fujayrah, Khawr Fakkan, Mina Khalid, Mina Rashid, Mina Saqr, and Mina Zayid. The Fujairah to Jebel Ali land link is the Navy’s logistics pipeline to the Gulf should the Strait of Hormuz be closed. Cargo unloaded at Al Fujairah, on the Gulf of Oman, can be subsequently transported via highway to destinations on the Arabian Gulf and hence bypass the need for transit through the Strait of Hormuz.

The United States has enjoyed friendly relations with the UAE since 1971. Private commercial ties, especially in petroleum, have developed into friendly government-to-government ties which include security assistance. The breadth, depth, and quality of U.S.-UAE relations increased dramatically as a result of the U.S.-led coalition's campaign to end the Iraqi occupation of Kuwait. The United States was the third country to establish formal diplomatic relations with the UAE and has had an ambassador resident in the UAE since 1974.

and this:

In Fujairah, a new $100 million naval base was out to tender by mid-1998, while studies were proceeding on a privately-backed ship repair yard at Dibba. As of January 1999 an announcement of a contract award was expected on the Fujairah naval base project.

and this, among others.

Jebel Ali has become a favorite port of Navy ships in the Gulf, and is the most frequented port outside of the United States. This port has become a familiar stop for carrier battle groups while deployed to the Arabian Gulf."

At some point calling the UAE a so called friend is pointless and insulting

I have the heaters going full blast, the sun is radiating in the windows...it's all good.

The disrupters are just annoyances. I don't really get hot at people I have never met. If I trusted them, I'd probably be a little PO'd.

I admire your stamina...you are all over these boards trying to supress any negative thinking towards this Port deal. I hope someone is paying you alot of money to "put out these fires." Problem is, I wonder if you would argue the same way for this deal should it had been Clinton or Hillary (future) to spearhead this doosey.

I'm completely at odds with my own elected Representative, Denny Rehberg, who wrote a guest column in this mornings Billings Gazette. He's bought into the series of lies perpetuated by the left-winged media. Which I found unfortunate.

There's no need for anyone to call names, whether it is pro, con or Sean. We're on this thread, and I assume that we're all coming from the same place in that we all love this country.

We disagree on this port deal..some of us need more convincing. It isn't a crime. It's a disagreement. Calling each other names and insulting each other? And we're supposed to be on the same side of the politcal spectrum.

It's crazy and unnecessary.

Yes, Rush is accused of being a shill for the Republican Party all the time.

There is only one time when I truly believed Rush was doing the Republican Party's bidding. When Specter (who Rush does not like and generally does not support) was running for relection to the Senate (the last time) Rush had Specter on his program just prior to the primary and not Specter's conservative challenger, TOOMEY, despite many requests from listeners to give Toomey equal time.

At the time, Rove and the President thought a Specter victory would help the President carry PA (and it didn't).

The thing is, anyone who is really concerned about our port security should be doing their best to insure that the truth, and not repetition of the original lies, is getting out. Why would anyone expect payment?
