Coal miner saved after 5 days underground
27.02.2006
A coal miner who was trapped underground for almost five days has been brought to the surface. He is now in a hospital, dehydrated after after 111 hours without food and drink. His overall condition is fairly good.
30 year-old Zbigniew Nowak is married, with one daughter. His wife told reporters it was their five-year old daughter who kept comforting her throughout the ordeal.
Rescuers worked round-the-clock to free the miner from under tons of rubble after a cave-in in the Halemba mine in Ruda Slaska, more than one thousand meters underground.
(Are we going to get news on arrests in rural Polish towns now as well? this is really not big news)
Come on, with all the recent news about mine cave-ins, and trapped miners, both in the US and abroad, what's the problem with this? Its nice to hear a happy ending to one of these trapped miner stories for a change.
GM is an AMERICAN COMPANY, what happens to GM affects AMERICANS. It's far more noteworthy than random events in Poland. I'm sure there are several polish forums where yourself, Lukasz, and Lizol (all poles living in Poland, not America) can discuss daily news from Poland.
Further this article being obvious non news should have been posted to General/Chat or Personal/Bloggers.
Kindly leave that determination to us.
What a .... eeeeh, no comment.
Great article and great news for this miners family.
For once a happy ending to one of these horrible stories about coal mine accidents.
