Marriage, Sex Fatal for Women

That the institution of marriage has been on the decline in Europe for quite some time is hardly news.
More and more couples choose to live out of wedlock. Assorted factors, from the unique demands of modern living to independent, working women, have been cited to explain away the popularity of what would have been uncommon a generation back. But now, researchers have come up with a new explanation.
A recent survey of over 10,000 people across Europe says wedding rings should come with a health warning, especially for women. Apparently, wedlock shortens a woman's life by over a year. Men, however, benefit from the wedded state -- they get an extra 1.7 years of life.
Why does a woman lose 1.4 years of her life to marriage? The stress of leading dual roles, as working women and homemakers, is thought to be a key element that makes married women die earlier than their single sisters.
The research is silent on whether wives who do not work have a normal lifespan.
The research team led by professor Stefan Felder of Magdeburg University, Germany, also suggested that the effect of regular sex could be detrimental for women's longevity due to hormonal changes. The effect of the same on men was found to be beneficial.

The research is silent on whether wives who do not work have a normal lifespan.Only because it doesn't fit well with their numbers or their agenda.
After you read it a few times it's actually funny.

If there's an award for the sheer number of jokes to be made simply by the title of a movie that one certainly has it.

Bad science makes for lousy policies. Don't get married because for women its a sexist, phallocentric institution. Yeah, right.

It just seems longer when living in europe. Or maybe the data is skewed by more suicides over the depression of living in europe.

But... do you really want to live forever?
To: JackQuickFrost
Married men don't actually live longer. It just seems that way. ;)

Yeah, that's why I thought men died earlier than women do. They just want a little peace and quiet for a change. /sarcasm off

So the moral of the story is....
in order for women to gain one year at the end of their life, they must give up marriage and family?
Is that right?
A life of loneliness - noncommitted relationships- and the ever idolozed "career" should make that one extra year worthwile?
I don't think so.

Just a comment on the statistics implied in this headline:
I'm quite sure that 100% of MEN who marry and/or have sex also die. Sooner or later...
This isn't unique for women.

Europe, at least as we ordinarily think of it, is rapidly on the road to extinction. The fertility rate of European women is far, far below "replacement rate," or what is needed to keep the population at the same number.
The Europeans are aborting themselves rapidly into extinction. Vast millions of muslim immigrants are quickly replacing the native population, all across Europe.
