Playing for keeps
By Salena Zito TRIBUNE-REVIEW
Despite the conventional wisdom, the midterm elections still could be the Year of the Pachyderm. But as John Kerry tells me, don't count out the donkey just yet.
First, forget the vitriol. What matters to the public is a concrete agenda. These elections will expose the Beltway crowd to what it fears most -- how the electorate really feels.

Kerry sure sounds confident, eh? LOL!
This column was a little bit about not so much, IMHO.
I appreciate that Tony Snow was quoted...and Gov. Perry, since he is my Governor, but I didn't see much else...
It is like the author got in the middle of it...and just stopped...LOL
No wonder the jackass is the symbol of the Democrats ...
The reason the Dems have the jackass for a mascot is the fact that a picture of an ATF jacket, a 1040A form, a welfare mom with her nine kids by seven different men, a dildo, and a crucifix soaked in urine would not generate a positive reaction with the public.
Ok, I get all the other things but what's an ATF jacket? Alchol, Tobacco and Firearms????
Bingo.
Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms should be a convenience store.
What a combination then ... all in one shopping ....
I could have done without the Kerry part, I've had my fill of that windbag.
But he does exemplify the state of his all rhetoric, no agenda party.
Kerry still thinks dem bigshots will return his phone calls. He's delusional.
The Kerry plan
But Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., says Democrats, in fact, do have an agenda.
"The single biggest thing we could do to help the economy in states like Pennsylvania and Ohio (is) to reduce health-care costs for workers and businesses," the defeated presidential candidate says.
He supports increasing the size of the military and doing more for military families. "We can jump-start new technologies, create jobs and improve our security by actually breaking our dependence on Middle East oil," Kerry said.
But, as per usual, exactly how Democrats will do all this isn't specified in such largely boilerplate talk.
