Curious what their numbers are today on this topic? You saw the shift in coverage start on Thursday when the Failed Media FINALLY quit lying about "Arabs are going to take over our ports" and actually started to make some factually correct statements about the deal. As the information comes out, those numbers are changing. Look at the change in the polling data here on Freeper. The initial Jim Rob Poll was 50-30-20 against the deal, now it is 50-30-20 FOR the deal.

Thankyou, but it's only the warm up for the live discussion thread on Sunday morning that is posted by Alas Babylon!

We're like long distance runners doing our stretching exercizes before a marathon.

My problem on Sundays is that I fall so far behind the field that I'm posting what I think are witty and insightful replies to folks that are 200 or 300 posts "up thread" and have moved on to entirely different subjects or already made the points I'm making!

I disagree. Let's put the blame where it belongs. The Junk Media did a horrible job of reporting. They basically took a Democrat Election Year press release and published it without question. They then tuned out ALL correction of their errors for the 1st half of the week. It wasn't until about Thursday the FACTS actually started being reported in the Junk Journalist Coverage. Kind of hard for the WH to get in front of a story like this. That would of required clairvoyance on their part to go right from disarming the Cheney hype to preempting this story.

Conservatives might as well make peace with the reality that this is HOW the Press is going to act from now on. There is no magic bullet someone can fire to slay the Junk Journalist Monster for us There will be NO fair and balanced converge no matter what the White House does to try to preempt these attacks. People need to wake up to the reality that the Dinosaur Media is complete and actively ON the DNC's side now.

I'm heading out to see my surgeon now. This should be the last visit before the surgery and we'll pick the day, either this Monday or Tuesday, or the 6th or 7th. We're leaning towards Monday the 6th or Tuesday the 7th, but I just want it to be done so I can begin the process of getting vision back in that eye.

I'm assuming I'll be back on late this afternoon.

So far I'm very impressed with what has been generated on this thread. I think I'm going to ping folks like Tony Snow and Rush to AB's thread this week as suggested reading and show prep! (it's only fair, I use them for thread prep)

Thanks for the links. Like minds, and all that. I knew it wasn't just me getting this stuff.

Part of this is our own fault. Nature abhors a vacuum and we've allowed one to creep in as the media is splitting Republicans into neo-cons, paleo-cons, classical conservatives, etc. All this versus a united front from Democrats, which is a lie in itself.

It must be driving the left nuts to have "one" indictment (Scotter Libby), which is of questionable illegality, compared to all the Democrats who were indicted and convicted under Clinton. It kind of turns the "culture of corruption" claim on its head.

Good luck with the doctor.

Just remind him, you may be getting your eyesight fixed but he should leave your insight alone. It's doing just fine.

Good point, though, I think the MSM will continue to spin for the Dims, whichever way they want to go. Unfortunately, I don't think as many Americans are paying attention to the facts on this issue as much as FReepers, so, while the shift in opinion of the public as a whole would be great, I'm not holding my breath for it to happen soon, especially w the Longshoremens' protests across the country.

I'd like to see one of the commentators ask the democrats how it is that they are opposed to our profiling Arabs in airports but it's okay to profile an entire company

Its easy to explain democrats obstinance. What I dont understand is the vehement opposition here on FR to the port deal. Its much ado about nothing, Im sure. Yet Im seeing the same attacks that I saw during the Miers deal. Knee jerk Bush Hatred, IMHO..

Kind of courious to watch how this shapes up. The same people who rant and rave nonstop about being Conservative and being pissed about spending always seem to want the Govt to take over more and more of the Private Sector. Now it is Port Terminal operation they want to turn over the the Fed Govt!

Interesting to note how the Dinosaur Media never questions the Democrats about being too close to Moveon.org or Act Up or the Unions or whomever but they always demand "Republicans show their independence". The more you watch and learn, the more you realize the modern Dinosaur Media Journalists have more in common with Soviet Era propagandists then Edward R Murrow.

Agreed. Old Media is slow to change and they are not happy over being exposed as being liberal. They also hate losing what they have perceived as their influence over readers and being replaced so often by New Media.

All this time they have been kidding themselves into thinking they were mainstream, and they are having a hard time coming to grips with the realization they are not.

This is why we need to keep reminding them of Katrina. With the exception of the military, every level of governnemnt failed in their responsibility to one degree or another.

There were failures, yes. However a lot of the blame for those failures was misapplied. We have had dozens of catastrophic wx events in this country, but none of them ever hit a dem/welfare/socialist/corruption mecca. If anything, Katrina highlighted at least to the true "enlightened", just how miserable a failure Dem controlled welfare ideology is. But Im afraid that despite the honest and resonable people's knowledge of Katrina, the hurricane will always be termed a Bush failure..

"__(except on Fox). )

Wouldn't that be interesting - if Fox asked for - one liner question to ask on Sunday!!

A --"what do you want answered this Sunday"

Too cutsey !! I think I would like that better than the last 3-5 minutes of 'the person of the week ' or whatever it is called. Some are ok!!
