DUBAI (Reuters) - Saudi-born Osama bin Laden's al Qaeda group claimed responsibility for Friday's attack on a major Saudi oil facility at Abqaiq, the group said in an Internet statement.

The statement, posted by the al Qaeda Group in the Peninsula on a Web site often used by militant groups, said two of its members carried out the suicide operation but gave no details.

The authenticity of the statement could not be verified.

It was a totally botched effort so there's no pride in this claim. They're getting desperate to remain relevant when cartoons steal their headlines.

Their only contribution to the World since inventing algebra.

Dividing anything by zero causes the result to blow up.

Actually, this is quite significant. If al-Qaeda can't defeat us on the field of battle, they will go after our economy. If they had succesfully executed this attack, we would have seen oil prices shoot up to $80 a barrel or more.

We must be vigilant.

Now suppose that, instead of "Saudis", the caption was "The Prophet" or "Mohammed"...

It might as well be, he created this situation. If the Saudi's pull the trigger, they'll have a civil war and blow mohammad's head off.

I have been reading an interesting book, 'Saudi Arabia in the 19th Century' by R. Bayly Winder, published by MACMILLAN IN 1965.

Can you imagine what the Saudi and al-Wahhab were up to during that period? A hundred years of slaughter, tyranny, treachery, betrayal, poisoned wells, destroyed date palm plantations. People taken captive, women raped. Famine. Thousands starved and/or died of thirst.

The perfumed princes are only very recently come out of the stone age.

Key point here is al-quaida ( a muslim organization) is blowing up things in the muslim world and the majority of muslims seem to be OK with that? It's time to re-evaluate the muslim line of thinking?

The thing is about Saudi oil, however, is it is not as pure, and takes a considerable more amount of refining,
thus hiking the cost up even more.

I suggest we relook at genetically modified corn,
and instead of eating it, put it in our car tanks.
Give them Aye-rabs their oil back, as this is what
they claim they want, Screw them, and lets be self sufficient.

What you said is very correct concerning Arabia crude, that's why Nigerian and other "cleaner" oil is far more valued and jolts the market when supplies are threatened.

There are so many energy avenues we should been focusing on after the first imported oil problem in late 1973 through 1974, then again with Iran taken over by the Khomeiniacs in 1979. Today with America's natural resources and workably two way street partnerships with Canada, corn & other abundantly produced grains, oil shale, offshore drilling, Alaska, cane sugar, coal gasification, nuclear, hydro, wind & more the construction of more oil refineries, plus fuel cells, and on & on.

But no, what should have been is not and we are still "America Held Hostage" to the Islamic death cultists. The energy situation required rectificatrion some 25 odd years ago years ago, but the will was never there.

Is the next energy wake up call a short time away? Sooner or later the Islamic enemy will attack another massive oil production plant, and this time set it ablaze, most likely using inside plants.

Overseas OPEC petroleum targets would not be a priority for Jihad Inc if we had only acted at the first sign of the ongoing threats.

The Saudi man on the street is dirt poor and sees nothing from that oil except Sheiks living in stadium sized palaces and driving around in gold trimmed limos.

Al Qaeda must be desparate.

They used three cars to blow up an outer gate 1 mile from the facility.

Blowing up outer gates 1 mile from the target does not get you 72 Virgins - you just burn like hell for a while.

At least the Saudis had the decency to put out the burning terrorists (and their cars).

The security guards just had target practice was about the extent of this adventure by three terrorists. And if, unfortunately, any of the security guards were injured, maybe they will pull back 100 yards from the outer gate and use should launched missiles to blow up suspected cars.

I hope the only casulties were the three terrorists.

Another case of terrorists flunking the Darwin test...

The prophet Mohammed died about the year 632.

But Islam took hold about the year 666 AD.

Is there something about the number 666 somewhere and something about a beast and serpent and maybe the devil...

Calendars are iffy--in any culture.
As in who decided when time started,
and who decided how it was to be measured
to begin with. And whose brilliant idea was
it to be a countdown, then at a certain
juncture, have it start increasing again.

Why the hell are they still ranting about
crusaders???? Lets get the hell out of
there, and start making our own fuel!!!
I'd like to see them without any western
support for their economy. I lived in
SE Turkey for a year in the early 80s,
on the border of Iraq. There were no
guilded limos, but a helluva lot of
poverty stricken people. It reminded
me of the dark ages, where the very few
in power lived too lavishly, and everyone
else were peons serving only to increase
the wealth of their magistrates, etc.

Why don't we turn this ball around and
really sock it to them where it hurts,
THEIR pockets. We have the manpower, we
have the technology, we have the
determination.

I saw a commercial about a new line of cars
that are prepared to use ethenol fuel from
corn. All we have to do is increase support
of this method and other alternate means
of fuel. The japanese will also be forced
to either close their plants or comply with
OUR standards for automobiles. This would
back slap them aye-rabs and they would have
NOT ONE SINGLE card in their hand as leverage
over the western way of life, no bargaining
chip to enjoy western products (let them boycott
Danish pastries, I'll buy them lol). They are
getting fat and complacant too. In Abu Dabi,
not one native citizen has to work. ALL their
workers are imported. And yet America's
universities and schools of higher learning are
flowing with middle eastern students. Tell them
to go home and study somewhere else. They curse
the democratic way of life, let them--from their
own borders. Not while they are enjoying the fruits
of OUR labor and establishments. All it would take
is for us to be self sufficient in fuel. And worse
come to worse, we can tear down all the aye-rab
owned gas stations and replace them with livery
stables. Maybe the Amish had the right idea about
transportation to begin with. Not to mention their
crops. They have the highest yeilding crops, all
done by hand, in the country. corn.. lets do it,
it replaces itself every single year. The farmers
wouldn't have to forfeit their land and homes to
greedy banks anymore. It would increase revenue
for everyone in that chain. Even to the worm
farmers who sell the castings for fertilizer.
Think of the job opportunities through the entire
chain from beginning to end. Granted, some
Americans might actually have to work for a living,
but hell, we could put Atkins and every surgery
and pharm company that sells weight loss products
secondary, instead of PRIMARY on our shopping
lists.

During the oil crisis in the 70s, the king of
Qatar said if they had to go back to eating dates
and drinking camel milk, why not? They lived that
way before, they could do it again. Granted we
may have to go for high protein peanuts *but we
can keep the cow milk*, but we can do it too. We
have one of the largest supplies of rice and soybeans
in the world. We have our own "bread basket".
It would turn the rest of the world upside down and
make all of them fall on their knees. Hell, we might
even be able to take care of our own for a change,
instead of our enemies. (I think I will run for
office LOL)

One might think they would be embarrased to admit they failed once again.

That's my thinking, but I figure they are relying on the MSM to spin it their way. Notice the first line of the article says "attack," not "failed attack."

DUBAI (Reuters) - Saudi-born Osama bin Laden's al Qaeda group claimed responsibility for Friday's attack on a major Saudi oil facility at Abqaiq, the group said in an Internet statement.

One thing pointed out by one Freeper, and I earlier own made the mistake of overlooking it. These attacks can be meant primarily to raise oil prices which effect western economies. Surely know one in their right mind would think it so easy to get past in this case the facility security forces. This place is huge. It is a super money maker. A couple trucks trying to bust through into the areas where any damage could be done would be quite impossible if it where not an inside job.
But these goons managed quite effectively within hours to raise the going price for a barrel of oil, regardless of what markets the oil would pass through.
And this is what the likes of UBL have bragged about all along, disrupting oil markets and other commercial entities in order to ruin western economies. So they simply sacrifice a few goons that think they are going to go to some paridise full of virgins. That's the problem we are confronted with.
