A friend of mine was pulled over and severely tongue-lashed for flashing his headlights on bright to tell the oncoming vehicle that his lights were on bright. The oncoming car was a policeman.

Any relation to Judge ROY Bean?

The kid in the story is an idiot. At his age, he should know better.

don't correct the police.

Even when they're wrong

What was the point of the kid honking his horn? What message was he trying to convey using Honkenese?

Cops routinely abuse traffic laws unneccessarily and it is a danger to all, many times a cop turns his lights on for a donut run and ends up hitting someone.

Police are only supposed to use their lights in an emergency or in pursuit of a crime and any cop doing so for other reasons should be severly reprimanded.

I got stopped by the police once and was threatened with a ticket for "something" when I mentioned that his cruiser had a headlight out.

Palmer left traffic court saying he still believed officers were abusing their authority.

Learns fast, doesn't he?

It would have been better had the judge dismissed the charge and fined the officer if the officer coulnd not produce proof her was "helping" another office. I'm sure there was a record of te "help" somewhere.....NOT

I see this cop with his blue lights come screeching up beside me and I didn't know what was going on

It didn't concern you.

I can't stand it when people honk their horns for any reason that is not safety-related. I'm not prone to road rage, but unnecessary honking really ticks me off.

"Officer Puglise said he was helping fellow police track down a speeder when Palmer saw him pass through the red light."

Oh yeah??? PROVE IT!!! This is just like the cops zipping up the left lane at 90 MPH, no lights & sirens. Surely they must be on their way to a big drug bust and don't want to attract the attention and risk tipping off the perps!

Your Honor, Officer, just how dumb do you think we are?
The kid's next question should have been to ask why the Officer didn't leave the lights on? I would subpeona a transcript of the radio communications (or the actual tapes)and prove otherwise! Of couse that segment of tape would have been conveniently "Nixonized!!"

The kid should have told da judge that he was merely honking his horn at a speeder.

Ya know, that same speeder the cop was chasing.

That's the ticket!

When i was a kid my aunt pulled a "citizen's arrest" on a cop who ran a light .

I don't know how it turned out, but she took him to court over it.

I was pulled over by a cop once for honking at him after he cut me off---we were driving side-by-side (I was on the left, he was on the right), our two lanes were merging into one, and he just figured he'd blast right into my lane across the right front quarter of my truck: without even signalling. Had I not honked he'd have taken me out.

He lit me up, I pulled over, and he came storming up to my window:

"Who the Hell do you think you are honking at me?"

"Would you rather I let you smash into me?"

He took my license and registration, held me up for 5-10 minutes, and practically tossed the "written warning" at me afterwards. Bastard.
