Saying that Rush supports the President on this because he golfs in Dubai is irresponsible at best, and evil at worst.

Why? I seldom listen to Limbaugh and I don't get my opinions from him. I don't know what his motivations are. None of us do. But it's not evil to be suspicious of his reasons. He quite openly talked of having dinner with some Repubs the last time I heard him. Motivation is everything and we don't know what his are. I don't find questioning his that awful. I don't know a single Freeper that actually blindly follows a politician as the Dems do. So I'm finding the angst on these threads disturbing. Names like "bot" and "basher" do none of us a service. Anyway, I find no sin in questioning someones motives.

So you just admitted that your loyalty is to a president and not your country. You also are willing to give the heart of your country over to other nations. So sad.

There is a happy farmer. He is not rich, but the land and his work are providing enough for his needs. The government contacts the farmer and convinces him that if he would borrow the money to expand operations with all kinds of fancy equipment then the farmer could be rich and happier. But after the farmer does this he finds that he cannot raise enough money to pay for the loans and meet expenses. So he starts to sell of what ever assets he has in order to pay the bills. First it is some of the tractors and farm equipment, and then it is some of his land. Now the farmer has fewer resources, and earns even less money. So even though he was able to pay his bills for a short time by selling off much of what he owned...he is now falling even further behind. Then one day the bank comes and takes what is left. We are the farmer. And America and our infrastructure are the land and equipment. Wake up!

Maybe to state facts and not hysteria, what a concept.

If I'm not mistaken, they were American citizens.

Terrorists come from all kinds of places........not just Dubai.

Whew was your "outrage" when a British firm had container operations at the ports.

None of the 9/11 hijackers came from England, nor do they support al-Quada. Two of the 9/11 hijackers were from the United Arab Emirates and they both supported and gave safe haven to these bastards. That's all I'm saying, that Hastert is right in calling for further investigation into this.

As far as I know, none of the bombers in Oklahoma city were Middle Eastern. They were re-blooded Americans. Since they were considered domestic terrorists, should we have stopped doing business in the U.S.?

Don't get me wrong. I think the contract should be scrutinized, but I don't believe anyone in the Administration is going to put us in danger.

The one talking point that kills me is that this was a "secret" deal.

I find that little talking point suspect at best. The media can't help itself to paint this administration in a bad light. It fits in with their "this administration is the most secretive in modern history" talking point.

How many times will this long-time leftist talking point be presented in the name of George Bush? I've lost count in the last two days.

I already answered your question here. You proved my point.

"To me, the most frightening thing to witness is how so many are actually trying to downplay the connection between Islam and terrorism as part of their argument."

Exactly!

They're kind of simple minded johnny one notes, Mo. They don't need any deeper reason that to bash President Bush. You think?

They are up to something .. I just can't pin point exactly what though

Strange how England is currently in the process of finalizing the same deal with DP World for operations in their own ports.

Someone will mistakenly let down their guard, and the whole jig will be up. It's only a matter of time.

We did have some lover's quarrels though.

I used to dream of being flogged mercilessly by Deb.

That girl could use a whip. Why should ol A+Bert have all the fun, the urine soaked drunkard. ;)

Seriously, no matter how this issue ends up settling out...I think the most significant consequence of it may be how Bush's loyal base has, overnight, assumed the role of Islam apologist. It is absolutely unbelievable, and frightening as hell.

The Longshoreman's Union is opposed to the sale. ....

What I am starting to think is that the unions opposing this is the main reason for the all of the stammering, spitting and grandstanding The fact that the change involves a Middle Eastern country is only being used as scare tactics by those who hope that the masses stay uninformed.

Not exactly.

Amawi is a citizen of Jordan and the United States,

Mazloum is a legal U.S. resident and came to the U.S. from Lebanon in 2000.

Marwan Othman el-Hindi is a naturalized U.S. citizen born in Jordan

True, I shouldn't let the nostalgia make it seem like it was totally rosy back in the day. But there wasn't this chasm right down the middle.
