Because if they were soooo damn concerned ... they wouldn't be leaking classified information to the NYT and WP

Boy that's for sure.

Maybe the Union is getting marching orders from the DNC to put up a fuss just as another way to make Bush look bad.

They're kind of simple minded johnny one notes, Mo. They don't need any deeper reason that to bash President Bush. You think?

But the law wasn't followed; the Secretary of the Treasury is supposed to chair the panel, various other cabinet officers are on the panel, and none of them apparently participated in the meeting.

In the end, the sale will be allowed to go through, and you'll just slink back to the fringes and never to be heard from.

You are wrong. The article you posted is from 2004 and it never came to fruition. Here is the current UAE position on Israel courtesy of Al Jazeera:

UAE denies Israeli mission in Dubai

Sunday 04 September 2005, 19:33 Makka Time, 16:33 GMT

The UAE "is fully committed to the Arab peace initiative announced at the Beirut and Algiers summits (in 2002 and March this year) which links any normalisation of ties with Israel with recognition of the Palestinian people's legitimate rights, including their right to the establishment of an independent state with holy Jerusalem as its capital", the source said.

Those were the good old days.

You would have learned something from RLK. That man was a genius, who was right so much they had to snuff him. That was the first flexing of the muscles by the those who later became known as Bots. Suppression of dissent, supression of the truth.

One Who Knows was a riot, too, in his own way.

I'll always remember the Chief, and Harpseal.

I wonder if these folks know that three terrorists were just indicted in OHIO.

Typical Americans with these names?

Mohammad Zaki Amawi, 26

Marwan Othman el-Hindi, 42

Wassim Mazloum, 24

Doesn't Homeland Security have enough to do than to now have to watch over this new aquisition? I'd think a moratorium would be easier and cheaper. But I admit up front to being simple-minded.

I guess their perfect solution would be to federalize the ports and Amtrak them.

Just another boondoggle for the American taxpayer to shoulder the burden to.

You can't be 'fairly truthful' with that kind of an accusation, DJ.

Saying that Rush supports the President on this because he golfs in Dubai is irresponsible at best, and evil at worst.

I would steer you to the achieves, but they have all been deleted in the last couple of years. In those days Even Rush was a real conservative. In those days Conservatives got mad, and things changed.

In those golden days we also had the Bush snorting coke cartoons, the marching brigades and other such silliness as well.

Maybe that will happen right after Harriet Miers gets confirmed to SCOTUS?

The point is that the "All Muslims are terrorists" argument is exactly what the Left wants to hear from us.

I don't know of anybody who is saying that. I think it is the fact that almost all terrorists are Muslims that you are trying to refute.

During the 1960's there were plenty of left-wing terrorists blowing up college campuses

The fact that you have to reach back 40 years for this example doesn't bode well for your argument

the KKK are terrorists.

Perhaps by some definition of the word ("thought-terrorists?"), but I haven't heard of them blowing anyone up or doing much of anything in the past 40 years.

There are also many Muslims living in this country who came here to escape from that part of the world, and who are very proud to be Americans, particularly Iranians.

I wholeheartedly agree with your last statement.

We're suing to stop sale to Dubai firm.

Are we selling the ports to the UAE? No! Very misleading headline, as has the reporting been misleading. All of the security agencies (HSA, Coast Guard, etc.) will still be in charge of the port security. Why is only Newark mentioned in the lawsuit?

America can't interfere with this sale, despite the best efforts of Congress to use this issue to grandstand on. The sale of P&O to DPW is a sure bet.

I was responding to your silly accusation that it was 'the Bush bots' who caused the hysteria.

Read the threads from yesterday and the day before. There was full blown gasket blowing and irrational shrieking going on from the anti-Bush crowd.

The voices of reason on either side were drowned out by the hysteria of the Bush haters.

It's not even worth the discussion here. The truth is the truth. You can't blame this one on the 'Bushbots.' It was an embarrassment to this forum.

I agree, regarding the coming elections. This is driving numerous people to step up to the plate on issues that normally wouldn't concern them. But national security is such an important issue that it would be only a good thing if everyone was on the same page with this, and it seems to be happening...

It was great. All of FreeRepublic was united in a contempt for Bill Clinton (he was the reason many of us came here in the first place). Now we have Bush, and all of this nonsense.

To be honest, the US has been doing it's best, under this administration, to hogtie the Israelis. One of many disagreements I have with this administration.

LOL! C'mon, don't bring up points that don't fit in nicely with the presented argument.

The ignorance of business acquitions and how they are done is astounding.

It's really easy, DPWorld(based in the UAE) made a bid for P&O(based in the UK). The P&O shareholders accepted the offer and DPWorld will take over P&O assets.

The one talking point that kills me is that this was a "secret" deal.
