Dragas says SAS captured Ratko Mladic in Romania

Banja Luka, 09:16

General Ratko Mladic was arrested in Romania by British SAS commandos on Tuesday during a joint British-Romanian security force exercise, Director of Serbia & Montenegro International Institute for Security Orhan Dragas told Republika Srpska Television.

Dragas claims The Hague Tribunal will deny information on Mladic’s arrest as long as it sees him in Scheweningen prison.

Dragas added that Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica is wise enough to ensure that Mladic be arrested by foreign troops rather than by Serbian police.

“Ratko Mladic did not want to turn himself in and according to my information a compromise decision was made British SAS in Romania to capture him early Tuesday morning”, Dragas added.

Vojislav Kostunica expects The Hague Tribunal's chief prosecutor Carla Del Ponte to arrive in the coming days and bring a written guarantee that the Tribunal will not hold Serbia responsible for failing to arrest the fugitive Radovan Karadzic.

if so, time to move on and put the past to rest.

The Serbian government sent the previous days blurbs as part of a reactionary newsflashes were being sent out to measure public reaction.

Personally, I'd prefer that the resources were employed to catch
real threats like al-Zarqawi....

Well this guy's gotta answer for his crimes, and, it's a way to wrap up the whole balkan fiasco and maybe, just maybe, have people move on. A single SAS squad is worthwile spent resources.

Oh dear, that's going to really annoy one particular pancake-flippin' Islamofascist stooge 'round these parts!

Below is the photo of Gen. Wesley Clark exchanging uniform hats with Ratko Mladic:

Caption: (August 27, 1994) Lt. General Wesley Clark meets and exchanges hats with Serbian war criminal Ratko Mladic. Clark accepted as gifts from Mladic a hat, bottle of brandy and a pistol inscribed in Cyrrilic. A US official complained of Clark’s unauthorized visit: “It's like cavorting with Hermann Goering.”

The story about the hat exchange came out when Clark was running for President, and I think it should be brought back out, especially in light of the fact that the ass is now on Fox News talking about the possibility of Civil War in Iraq.

"Well this guy's gotta answer for his crimes..."

Is he going to have to give Wesley Clark back his hat?

I'm rather unfamiliar with the hat reference... ? Did Mladic steal Wesley's hat or something ? Or was it a gift of some sort ?

Here's a link to a World Net Daily story about the meeting between Clark and Mladic:

Clark hobnobbed with war criminal

I had almost forgotten about this story until I saw a clip of Mladic along with the report that he had been arrested. "Hmmm," I said. I wonder if that's the same guy Wesley Clark exchanged hats with, and sure enough when I did a search on Google, I found the photo above.

Selective justice is not justice at all. Prosecuting and punishing only Serbs for alleged crimes and turning blind eye for numerous war crimes committed by Al-Qeeda connected muslim or neo-Nazi Croats will not wrap anything.

Stealing from Serbs there ancient lands and denying to them there unquestionable rights will not bring peace and stability to Balkans. It will only serve to prepare ground for another war. As for SAS, they tried hard to capture General Mladic and Dr. Karadzic and they failed. More then one squad of SAS has been already “spent” in those attempts. It would be more beneficial (and safer for SAS members) to use them against hundreds of registered muslim terrorist in Bosnia.

Well sure. You won't get an argument from me that the other end of that deal needs to get taken care of too. Croats have been turning in their war criminals under pressure from EU/US - Ante Gotovina got nabbed in Argentina, I believe. There's been others turned in. I would like to see a lot more activity vs various islamic elements in Bosnia.

Karadzic and Mladic must answer for what they've done, irregardless. And, that would probably go a long way towards allowing the US/EU to save face and provide desperately needed support Serbia on the Kosovo issue.

Well this guy's gotta answer for his crimes

I would like also see other "guys" of Yugoslav fame answering for their crimes in the Balkans... and it is much easier to locate them than Mladich.

The other day one of them, known as Bubba, spoke in Auckland, NZ at an event where gullible paid NZ$ 2400 for the doubtful pleasure to hear him saying that something needs to be done about the global warming.
