Freeper Research Project: Freeper personality tests
Jung Personality Test ^ | February 23, 2006 | Alamo-Girl

Posted on 02/23/2006 9:20:32 AM PST by Alamo-Girl

Would you like to learn a little more about yourself and your fellow posters on Free Republic? If so, you might enjoy this Freeper Research Project.

It began on another thread where people were testing themselves for “nerdiness”. Great fun was had by all.

Along the way, Freeper patton posted a link to the Jung personality test.

What an adventure! I took the test for the first time and found out I am an INFJ (I=44, N=75, F=25, J=25).

Because we were sharing the results of our tests on that thread, I was pleasantly surprised to discover three other Freepers with the same personality type. And, naturally, being curious – some of us went to yet another link to find out what the code means and what famous people are INFJs:

Type Logic

The strange part is that INFJ’s are the smallest in the general population, but among those posting on the thread, INFJs were in the majority. Does that mean that INFJ’s are drawn to Free Republic or to those kinds of tests, or are more willing to discuss such things?

At any rate, it is a delightful musing about this forum, the posters we are drawn to (or against): does the Jung personality test have anything useful to say to us?

If you are interested or perhaps would just like to have some fun, take the test and check out the results. And if you’re willing, post your results here on this thread so that we can all “compare notes”.

The results so far:

INFJ: Indy Pendance, Knitting a Conundrum, Grey-whiskers, Alamo-Girl

INTJ: John O (67,62,25,67), hosepipe (11,50,19,56), Cyclopean Squid (44,100,62,56)

INTP: marron

ENFJ: .30Carbine (1,50,75,22) , phantomworker (39,57,40,12)

This was a really great idea. I might add that the results are most accurate if the test is taken multiple times at intervals of, say, a week or maybe two.

The daily 'static' of life influences how you answer the questions and will result in different percentages on different days. Even taking the test twice in the same day -- first thing in the morning than last thing at night -- will give you different percentages. It may surprise you to see just how different they can be.

Taking the test many times will give you a better picture. You'll see that your personality centers around an 'average' percentage in each area, and you'll see that your personality fluctuates within a fairly consistent 'range' of percentages above and below those 'average' values.

Keep a log with your results, something like this:
20060224 18:30Z INFP 11 62 25 11

Take note of how those values fluctuate in response to the 'static' of events in your life. Death in the family? Stressful project at work? How're your numbers changing? IOW, how is that 'static' influencing your answers to the questions that drive the results?

I learned at a fairly young age that acronyms can be dangerous when one of my schoolmates gave me the lowdown on what 'PONTIAC' supposedly stands for.

Your appeared so random that I didn't even think it might actually mean something. Pressed to guess, though I'd have offered:

Fyi, I used to always be an INFP. My kids are both INFPs. But introversion was not dominant for me I guess. After I had my two boys I had to become more outgoing to keep them disciplined and after I went back to work where teamwork is stressed so much, I shifted to being more extroverted. I starting volunteering a lot in organizations, and somehow I started to enjoy being in the center of things. Now I enjoy being a leader and an activist, yet I still know my roots in being more introverted. I think anyone who FReeps a lot and enjoys interacting in written form has a lot of introvert qualities. That's probably one reason we see so many INFP/INFT's in this population.

Well, there's my two bits worth of analytic pop pyschology for the day. LOL!

Thank you for compiling and publishing all that, Alamo-Girl! That was quite an effort to compile everything! Yet quite enlightening! Those of us who love statistics are probably just itching to do some analysis on the data! ;) LOL!

INTJ sawoody (89,12,62,11)

Neat! I took this test many years ago, and I was an INTJ then too.

I was pleased to see CS Lewis on the INTJ list. He's one of my heros. Mr. Darcy was on my fictional character list. I can identify with that charater...except the rich and attractive part (c:
