Long Beach Longshoreman Threatens the Host (Rush Limbaugh)
The Rush Limbaugh Show ^ | 2/22/06 | Rush Limbaugh

Posted on 02/23/2006 6:28:31 AM PST by RushCrush

RUSH: Jerry in Long Beach, I'm glad you waited, sir, welcome to the program.

CALLER: Uh, Rush, I'm a proud member of the longshoremen's union.

RUSH: Yes, sir.

CALLER: I don't appreciate you attacking our union, try to make this part of this debate. Are you telling us that Republicans don't care about our jobs? Are you telling us that Republicans want to break our union?

RUSH: No.

CALLER: Is that what this deal was about?

RUSH: No! No.

CALLER: Or is this about -- Or is this about President --

RUSH: There you go again! There you go stereotyping! There you go stereotyping.

CALLER: Is he afraid he's not going to get his commission?

RUSH: I'm telling you that from everything I know, nothing's going to change. I have said this for the past two days.

CALLER: So why are you attacking my union?

RUSH: I'm not "attacking your union"! I'm simply pointing out who your union donates to and explaining why Schumer and Hillary and these other Democrats are speaking out in opposition to the deal. While they're telling us it's about national security, it's not, they're telling it because they're trying to loyal to you. You're the ones that --

CALLER: What you're not saying is that this is a violation of the Trading with Enemies Act. You couple this with the violation of the Espionage Act, a violation of the Foreign Intelligence --

RUSH: It's none of that.

CALLER: -- Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, you've got this president committing three felonies, sir!

RUSH: It's none of that!

CALLER: He's a criminal.

RUSH: (laughing)

CALLER: And what you're doing is criminal -- and don't you attack my union!

RUSH: I didn't attack your union, but I'm about to start --

CALLER: Well, let's get it on, buddy.

In general, I think labor unions should be a part of the process. In reality, today's unions are more about destroying wholesome U.S. values or polices than supporting labor.

The Unions exclusively support politicians and organizations who push the Marxist / Socialist agenda.

Violence is never too far away if a union feels that it has been crossed. If the people or organizations they support are crossed, those who object to them are exposed to violence.

Tying the unions to people like Hillary or Schumer is the right thing to do. They are fellow travelers.

Sorry Hildy, Rush did not deserve to be treatened or spoken to the way he did. He never advocated union members be displaced or harmed in any way, financially or physically.

He was furious. His comments weren't even rational or on point at least part of the time. He was out of control.

That is a more thorough? That is all opinion. When was the last time you tried to purchase medical benefits for your company?

I don't necassarily disagree with you that Unions have kept the wages too high in some areas. As I said, the reality lies somewhere in the middle.

As far as the education. In the real world there are a lot of very intelligent, hard working people that just aren't cut out for college. Or many some that aren't book smart but will work their asses off.

Your cavalier, all or nothing approach does not translate into the real world.

I don't agree with Hildy on this, but that was completely uncalled for.

Thank you, but I truly don't mind these kinds of posts. It says more about madprof98 than about me. And I'm flattered certain people remember what I write, even months later. :)

I listened to various parts of Rush on this subject and for Rush to say that the reason, the only reason the Dems are against the port deal is to appease the unions is rubbish. It is as if the Democrats haven't seen the results of polls leading up to the election. The Dems are behind on national defense and this subject, this controversy hands them the issue back from the GOP. The Dems can now campaign on national defense in opposition to the lack of sensitivity that GWB is showing us.

The Democrats won this issue, especially if GWB does not backtrack on the decision. They will win seats in congress, and Hillary will be that much more visible as she will be able to say that she opposed GWB on this issue and the voters agree with Hillary. Hillary wins and the Dems win, and Rush can't say that or even allude to it because the truth is too painful.

Believe me, Rush LOVES these kinds of calls ... and it shakes things up! He didn't DESERVE to be treated like that???? He's a controversial radio talk show host...he can handle it.

Sorry Hildy, but if someone on my side had phoned in that way, I'd be just as quick to dump on them. Rush did not deserve that call, which was extremely irrational. The called didn't address one thing that Rush had actually said. How then can you term the call justified? I don't see the grounds for that on any level.

Well, your credibility just went down the drain.

Actually, I suspect I was right on target. Do you have some reason to think otherwise?

FreeRepublic actually draws a lot of the same kind of people who call Rush with "I'm a lifelong Republican . . . " lead-ins and then proceed to bash President Bush and/or the social conservatives for hijacking the GOP and restricting their so-called liberties. These Freepers are often belligerent, as Rush's caller was in the original post in this thread. I was not surprised at all that Hildy admired the guy.

"Actually I think he is spot-on. I've dealt with far too many unions for far too many years, most are just plain criminal in their actions."

See the picture in #9 above. Lots of us FReepers have had to deal with these guys at various freeps. One would have taken a swing at me in Orlando (at a Sore/Loserman freep before the 200 election) if a policeman hadn't ridden his horse between us and told him and his friends to get back on the other side of the street.

The unions and it's minions were kept on the job during WWII by the mafia and its bigger minions. If it had not been for the mafia bigs, the longshoremen would have struck and used their leverage several times. Learned that and other facts in class from a very Liberal Cornell professor years ago. Of course there was substanuating books, information, etc. which he introduced. It can still be researched I'm sure.
