NJ Bill Would Give Illegal Immigrants Licenses
1010 WINS - TRENTON, N.J. ^ | Feb 23, 2006 7:36 am US/Eastern

New Jersey Assemblyman Joseph Vas today is expected to introduce a proposal to create a ``New Jersey Driving Privilege'' card.

The document is essentially a driver's license for undocumented immigrants.

The bill from the Perth Amboy Democrat is similar to laws in about a dozen other states.

It has won praise from advocates who say many of New Jersey's approximately 300-thousand illegal immigrants are driving anyway -- making sure they pass a test is good for public safety.

The initiative also aims to get around the pending federal ``Real ID'' program.

That program -- starting in 2008 -- will require state motor vehicle departments to verify the legal residency of driver's license applicants.

This is just plain wrong. We don't have a national ID card. The social security card is a joke - no picture! In the Boston area, a talk show host rails against the illegal aliens who are driving - un-licensed, uninsured, uninspected, unregistered... There have been many cases where illegals have killed people in car accidents. They leave the scene of the accident as they don't want to get caught and deported. People are dying.

The candidate for president in 08 that can articulate a solid strategy for dealing with this issue will get some attention. It seems that both sides are not touching this issue and it could be because they don't want to alienate the hispanic vote. What voters support having illegal aliens in the US?

Yes, NJ is pitching a fit. Our gov is trying to take action to block it.

Very humorous too. When Kushner was the commissioner for the NJ Port Authority, he is the one that sponsored our ILLEGAL ALIEN, Golan Cipel and helped him get in charge of our homeland security.

Ah, the irony.

Actually, I seriously think the 'no American to do the job' is a load of poop.

Yup. I've mopped floors, cleaned toilets, painted, cleaned windows, stacked shelves among other things on my way to where I am, and all for minimum (I didn't demand that, it was State law). And I'm the whitest most middle class guy you are likely to meet.

I'm convinced that the 'no American' mantra translates to 'I have to pay Fica on an American as opposed to an illegal, and I have to comply with onerous things like worker safety laws if I hire an American, and I can't be troubled with such things.'

This is the same state where the governor is filing suit in Federal court to overturn the acquisition of P&O Ports by that UAE-owned company.

For anyone who hasn't stopped taking New Jersey seriously long before now, this might be a good excuse to do so.

why pay taxes when you don't have to.
these are now tax free jobs (if this passes)

could end up more lucrative.

>>Another brilliant strategery by this gov't.<<

This should be viewed in the proper context. It is an energy saving plan that will save about a gazillion gallons of gasoline each year. Up until now, the Jersey illegals had to motor all the way down to Tennessee to obtain D.L.'s.

>>>There have been many cases where illegals have killed people in car accidents.

We have cases of illegals that have killed people in car accidents. Heck, we have cases of people that have killed people in PLANE accidents. Don't forget, NJ is the place that got 9 of the 9/11 terrorist illegal IDs!

Just wanted to emphasize that.

How about an advocacy group for the taxpayers that are daily losing their legal income to support these ingrates.

I am convinced that since 9/11 illegals have killed way more people via murder, dwi, etc than the terrorists.

No, we had such a bad underground here for illegal documents that if you were born in Jersey City between certain dates, you birth certificates now have to be replaced with State Issued documents.

This Driving Privilege card is to compensate for all the illegal document rings that have been shut down.

I'd hang on to it for a while , after all Illegals have nothing to lose in a civil suit, and perhaps you have property.

There aren't any NGOs that issue grant monies to groups that support the Constitution.

There are plenty of NGOs that issue grant monies to tear our Constitution down though.
