Thats all for now. If posted already sorry
"Now it emerges" ping!
Well then put yourself down for 2 demerits, then tear the paper up and put it in the trash and then forget about it and continue with your evening.
If this is true, then the magnitude of what has transpired between the U.S. and the UAE over the last few years is actually quite remarkable. In addition to having a permanent U.S. military facility on the Persian Gulf (Al Dharfa Base in the UAE), we now have an emirate in the Persian Gulf that has allowed U.S. Department of Homeland Security officials to set up shop in their own port facilities, and a UAE-owned company that is basically risking $6.8 billion on the acquisition of a company that could basically be rendered worthless overnight if the U.S. government took away their terminal leases in the U.S.
You may want to see this. :)
"Great. So AFTER we have been nuked,"
Some 90 foreign countries are operating ports in the US. What makes you think it will be Dubais? Could be the Chinese?
I know, isn't it absolutely absurd that documents are supposed to compensate for giving enemies the chance to mass murder our countrymen?
Much of the cargo that comes into US ports is allready "secured" by this company on the other end.
If they are no good, we need to shut down our ports now....before it is too late! /sar
You rang?
"I think somebody dropped the ball," said Rep. Vito Fossella, R-N.Y. 'Information should have flowed more freely and more quickly up into the White House. I think it has been mishandled in terms of coming forward with adequate information'"
No, but glad you are here....lol
Breaking General Franks from Iraq war Fame says on Fox the UAE port thing is a good idea. Ok Freepers please start bashing another American HEro and calling him a traitor a sell out etc.
So, I wonder what other 'rewards' we have to offer our other Arab 'allies' in the war on terror. Maybe Turkey can be in charge of our border security? (just an example, and probably not the best one).
And so the CYA begins. Gotta get that egg off a number of faces.
Hmmmm. Are you sure this wasn't a quote from our previous national security and Constitutional crisis...otherwise known as "the Cheney shooting." Our media and politicians are one trick ponies.
No bashing from me. Just watching the Big Guns come out.
The Chinese won't risk the retaliation that will come to the perpetrators of an attack on the US.
What makes a sensible person suppose that this might be an opportunity for our enemies whereas the other nations' operations do not provide such an opportunity, is that the other nations do not subscribe to the ideology of our enemies, whereas the UAE most certainly does.
The problem with calling for "free and quick flow to the White House" is that it quickly causes such a deluge of information that it's as bad as no information at all -- there's just no time for the WH to assess every single thing that happens in the Executive Branch.
I look at the folks yelling loudest about this, and from their outrage I'm inclined to think there's far less to this than meets the ear. It's just their latest hope for getting Bush.
When I see actual facts on the company and on the deal -- which are quite hard to find in most media reports -- my suspicions as to this being overblown are merely strengthened.
Fossella has a right to be concerned, but I fear he's just hoping to jump on the bandwagon.
Turkey has not been a very good ally in the war in terror...despite being a fellow member of NATO. The UAE is lightyears ahead of the Turks (and a lot more stable than Turkey lately as well)
Well, well.
Some people are going to have egg on their faces in a few days.
