Man oh man - that's for sure.

POlicy not made on polling data Exactly...yet so many Freepers are screaming at Bush because he didn't make this decision based on public "perception".
I'll take a President who decides stuff based on the law any day over one obsessed with image.

I hope that this report is not true. I very much hope that this report is completely untrue.
If we are indeed making such negotiations with another sovereign government over the back of commercial transactions, this is exactly the kind of thing that when someone else takes the White House might well be exposed.
I can only imagine what would have happened if we had discovered similiar actions on the part of the Clinton administration with the Chinese.

I didn't make the moronic statement that Dubai wanted to nuke us, you did. (rolling eyes). It's about security and minimizing the probability of that security being breached. There are many arrangements for managing port security that would present lower risk of infiltration than sidling up with an operation owned and operated by members of the ROP. We ARE supposed to be "at war" with, well, who would that be? Oh yes, Islamist Terrorists, isn't that right? Well, where to these folks mostly come from. Do I need to give you a hint, or are you smart enough to figure this one out all by yourself?

I loved what George said on another thread:
"The ignorance, knee jerk reaction, and lack of facts have been breathtaking here lately, hasn't it?? It's been like an Internet version of the Michael Savage show. And that is NOT a good thing. I always thought that FReepers were a bit sharper and intelligent than they've shown lately. I am a bit dismayed, to say the least."
BTW, I feel a LOT better because of your post!

yer mind, or what?

I would prefer it if all port management were restricted to US companies. There is ample precedent (airlines). I really don't understand what is taking the FedGov so long to change the game plan. It's been almost five years, yet pilots aren't armed, the borders are wide open, we are treating islamist terrorists as though they were convenience store robbers, etc. , etc.

I think Franks is just great, but did anyone really expect him to come out with a statement against his own Commander in Chief?

Franks may well be a good choice for Bush to use. After all Franks called Douglas Feith (Rumsfeld's number one man) "the f*cking stupidest guy on the face of the earth."

LOL. Well, it's his accent when he wants it to be. I suspect he speaks the King's English when he deals with some folks.
He's probably got a Texas drawl in his back pocket, too. I understand he's a die-hard supporter of George W. Bush.

2)Are you calling General Franks a liar?

Why don't you answer my question, which assumed nothing, are you calling General Franks a liar? Yes or no.

I agree.
Speaking of ports and New York City accents, did you get a look at this post from a Chuck Schumer thread a few days back?
You was my brother, Charlie ... You shoulda been lookin' out for me!
It was one of the funniest posts I've ever seen here, considering the subject matter, the name of the person involved, and the slight resemblance between Chuck Schumer and Marlon Brando.
