Last Friday I had the privilege of speaking to the Republican Women's Club of Chapel Hill. The topic: What Republicans Must Do To Win in 2006. While I won't share any major trade secrets in this forum, I will share a few of my thoughts on what [the NC GOP] must [do] to be successful this year.
First and foremost, [Republicans] must Get Out The Vote. This is such an obvious, "Politics 101" statement that it almost goes without saying. [The] GOTV (get-out-the-vote) effort is especially important in 2006 given that, for the first time since 1994, North Carolina will hold legislative and congressional elections with no race for President, US Senate or Governor on the ballot.
The fact that we will not be voting for President, US Senate or Governor this November means there is no "top of the ticket" race to drive voters to the polls. This points to a likely low turnout, which means that the party that does the best job turning out its voters will likely be victorious on Election Day.
If [the GOP is] to win in 2006, [they] must turn out Republican voters -- period. Part of this responsibility lies with the State Party, but they do not bear the burden alone. In my view, county party organizations play a critical, irreplacable role in turning out Republican voters throughout North Carolina -- especially in a year with no statewide, top-of-the-ticket race. Success in legislative, congressional and local races throughout North Carolina will be largely dependent upon county parties' ability (sic) to turn out their Republican base.
(I did a little editing to generalize the article a bit. The message is significant.)
One thing the Republicans need to do to win in 08 is to do everything possible to encourage the current Democrat leadership to continue their destructive agenda.
The next thing is to encourage Hillary to run as president.
Of course, you are probably aware that there is a group of feminazis who have organized a similar campaign called "Americans for Rice". They pretend to be Republican, but a quick conversation with any of the members reveals that they are marching under George Soros or Hillary's umbrella. They are pro-abortion, pro-woman, anti-male, pro-globalization, pro-welfare, anti-American, and anti-free market. (Someone forgot to give them the Republican party platform to study, apparently.)
Forces of freedom on the march! Washington, DC trembles!
I'll be there on election day .
Thanks for the ping. My thought exactly.
That's like saying- We don't need more Christians, we need more followers of Jesus...
I would agree with you...
"We don't need more Republicans, we need more conservatives!"
Well seeing as I live in the peoples republic of New York.........all I can do is totally agree with this statement.
I believe North Carolina is close to a "tipping point." If the GOP can overcome the gerrymandering and take control of the General Assembly (and the best chance of that happening might be a Presidential election year, with a liberal such as Hillary! on the top of the Dem ticket), then I believe long-term Republican control can be achieved. That gerrymandering knife cuts both ways.
