We don't need more Republicans, we need more conservatives!

(I did a little editing to generalize the article a bit. The message is significant.)

One thing the Republicans need to do to win in 08 is to do everything possible to encourage the current Democrat leadership to continue their destructive agenda.

The next thing is to encourage Hillary to run as president.

The slow progress of the Republican Party in North Carolina, compared to other Southern states which are dependably "red" at the Presidential level, is frustrating. The Dems have done an absolutely brilliant job at gerrymandering the State House and State Senate to hang onto their majorities in both houses even as the state voted Republican in nine of the last ten Presidential elections, and in ten of the last twelve U.S. Senate elections.

I believe North Carolina is close to a "tipping point." If the GOP can overcome the gerrymandering and take control of the General Assembly (and the best chance of that happening might be a Presidential election year, with a liberal such as Hillary! on the top of the Dem ticket), then I believe long-term Republican control can be achieved. That gerrymandering knife cuts both ways.
