Statement by Senator John McCain on the debate over the Bush Administrations decision to allow Dubai Ports World of the United Arab Emirates manage U.S. sea ports.
We all need to take a moment and not rush to judgment on this matter without knowing all the facts. The Presidents leadership has earned our trust in the war on terror, and surely his administration deserves the presumption that they would not sell our security short. Dubai has cooperated with us in the war and deserves to be treated respectfully. By all means, lets do due diligence, get briefings, seek answers to all relevant questions and assurances that defense officials and the intelligence community were involved in the examination and approval of this transaction. In other words, lets make a judgment when we possess all the pertinent facts. Until then, all we can offer is heat and little light to the discussion.

I have no complaint, but they (Halliburton) did not (but could have) bid on the sale when the British offered it.
Besides, Halliburton does alot and has many divisions, but I don't think that major seaport operations is one of its primary businesses - "logistics" management in general, yes, but not actual seaport operations management. It's not that they couldn't but simply that they don't, at leat not according to their website:

Don't wait up, but please WAKE UP and do your own research on what this takeover means.
Bush's "defense" of this Dubai fiasco was to state:
"Congress needs to explain why the middle east gets treated differently from any other country".
A question like this makes it obvious he has no real defense for this move, because it hides behind the weak, desperate defense of claiming these Senators and Governors are practicing racial/religious 'discrimination' instead of true concern about national security. Weak, very, very weak; and it won't stand up.
...defense officials and the intelligence community were involved in the examination and approval of this transaction.
Unbelievable!
Traitors!
And they want to fix it now with the same minds that created the problem in the first place?
...McCain is CFR,...
So is George Soros, Dick Cheney, Condi Rice, Maddie Dullbite, GHW Bush, Billdo Clinton, Jimmah Carter, Michael Douglas, Tony Snow, John Bolton, Diane Feinstein, Richard Dreyfus, Katie Couric, Lincoln "The Commie" Chafee(appears to have inherited Dad's seat), Olympia Snow, Jack Reed, Rockefeller, and a host of others.
The Bipartisan Treason Club.
Odd note: It looks like Upchuck Schumer may have recently resigned from the Treason Club. Wonder how long he will live.
No, I thik UAE = Muslims = terrorists. There are plenty of nice Christian Arabs in places like Lebanon.
Kerry, Bush, same team.
Who's calling you names? I'm certainly not. I'm as puzzled by this particular decision as everyone else here. My first reaction when I heard the news was, "WHAT?????? ARE THEY FREAKIN' NUTS??????????????????"
That's still my general feeling, but I'm trying my best to understand what possible reasons there could be for supporting this decision. As of right now, I DON'T!
The UAE is an ally.
Well, he did play the race card by implying that racism would be the only reason people would not want arabs owning the port.
Bizzare indeed
But they are; we're not at war with ALL Arabs, even though some would like nothing more.
"He didn't play the race card; he ANSWERED his critics who HAVE played the race card."
Weren't you one of the main cheerleaders for Harriet Miers? Why yes, I remember quite clearly, you were. You lashed out at anyone who questioned the nomination.
We were sexists then, of course, according to Laura Bush.
Now we're racists, according to you.
It's worn so thin as to be inneffective.
>>The UAE is an ally. <<
And Islam is a religion of peace. And O.J. is looking for the real killer.
