The House of Saud makes more money from us selling their oil. They have no interest in getting into the electrical generating business.

Maybe I'm a Jew. Got a problem with Jews?
The fact of the matter is, the House of Saud threatened Bush shortly before Sept. 11th and he promised the House of Saud he would back the Roadmap Crapola.

"If the UAE ever does anything to try to use this deal for to damage our security, I see nothing to prevent the U.S. from terminating the leases at that point, and taking action against the UAE if necessary. I just don't see that as a problem -- DP World is run by people who want to make money, and ports blowing up doesn't make money."
This seems to be one of the points missing in this debate. My feeling is that the MSM is going to blow this all out of proportion and use this to attack Bush & the Republicans.
A lot has changed in the the last 5 and a half years. The UAE sits right next to Qatar where we have our big base in the Gulf. Considering that part of the GWOT involves trying to bring about more moderate Arab states and that the UAE seems to be one of the more moderate states, it makes sense that if they have the money, to give them the opportunity.
I pulled this from the UAE website:
"Since the nomadic days, the women of the UAE have played a pivotal role. When the men were occupied in the fishing and pearling industry, the women took care of agriculture, rearing of livestock and bringing up the children
no mean task in the desert land.
The first women's association in the country, the Abu Dhabi Women's Association, was formed in February 1973 by First Lady, H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak. In 1975, the womens associations in the seven emirates were brought together under the UAE Women's Federation.
She still serves as the Chairwoman. Her commitment and dedication towards the cause of woman in the UAE has won her accolades and praise from the United Nations Organization for Women. The UAE Women's Federation covers topics such as Religious Affairs, Mother and Child Care, Social Affairs, Cultural Affairs, Arts and Sports.
The UAE Constitution too ensures womens equality with men and protects their rights in accordance with the rights and privileges laid down in Islam. They enjoy the same legal status, title claims, access to education, the right to a profession of their choice, health and family welfare facilities and rights with regard to the inheritance of property are also guaranteed.
The UAE University and HCTs are producing women graduates in disciplines such as the arts, engineering, sciences, including environmental sciences, media and communications, as well as computer technology. Women are now found in the fields of business, technology, aviation, armed forces, literature etc."
They seem a lot more progressive then some of our other "allies" in the region.

Has Iran run out of oil? What, you think that the UAE needs our Port monies to keep on keeping on? Do you have any idea what D&P's Board looked like 4 years ago? Keep'em coming, I have 10 minutes left before I must do the responsible thing and get some rest.
