Typical for y'all. You think you deserve everyone to answer every bit of spin you can think up, but never answer anything honestly that is put to you.

Uh, I answered you, Tom. Get down off your soapbox and actually read the posts.

"And I trust the President, and Condi Rice, and Donald Rumsfeld. I know you don't. You've always made that patently obvious."

Really?

Everyone who rushed to the defense of China when they tried to buy Unocal, raise your hand...

I didn't see any need to run to anyone's defense. The bidding war continued unabated for weeks. In the end, CNOOC kept getting outbid and they made a business decision to drop out of the bidding process.

I don't understand why he wants to drive away a large percentage of his base with this decision.

Because the US dollar must be worth more than the paper it is printed on. That means, if you have dollars, you get to buy stuff with them. Anything less could mean a run on the dollar and the end of the world as we know it. Why sell stuff, get dollars and not be able to buy things with it.

Drink water, and lots of it for your headache. It works.

I guess that's why you trolled hundreds of threads about him in the last half dozen years.

Actually, I did it to see what ridiculous excuses you'd come up with to convince people to vote for a man who preached family values, while he turned his back on his own daughter.

"approximately one million conservative Republican supporters joined up with George W. Bush.

VERY approximately, and then they took their sideline seats and sniped, for going on 7 years now.

"The president did recommend strengthening the new Proliferation Security Initiative, which is a positive development. But seizing a cargo here and there is not going to be enough to stop proliferation. We must see to it that smugglers are deprived of their legal havens. That means getting more countries to adopt and enforce adequate export controls. In neither Dubai, Pakistan nor Malaysia is there any legal restriction on selling centrifuge parts to Libya or Iran. That is also true of many other potential manufacturing sites in the world. Unless we do something to remove the possibility of using such sites as smugglers' havens, we will continue to face the danger of nuclear black markets."

This is ok? You are either mad or a willing enabler of our destruction. How bout providing us your name and address so we know at one place to vent a little anger when the first nuke strikes. I any of us survive.

American ports should be managed by American companies

Name one company.

You people are nuts. The whole concept of Port Security is a phantom. Take the Port of NOLA. We have the same process running the Port that ran the levee board. Now how can the group that could not prepare for the storm and keep 4-12 feet of water out the city keep nasty stuff from coming in the Port. Any one believe the Port would be more competent? Give me a break.

And take Miami. The Miami Ports (air and sea) are a cesspit of corruption. Tons and tons of illicit good travel through Miami every year (stolen cars, boats, RVs, Cement trucks, exotic pets, guns, drugs, people, you name it). Frequently the cops or "port" employees are on the inside. It is quite silly to think the UAE would make the situation worse. Get with it people.

In fact the only reason a smart terrorist would not use the Port of Miami to bring in WMD is because it would likely be stolen at the Port.

Have you ever been to the 'passenger' terminal in Fort Lauderdale. Security is a joke. You can drive right through if you show a drivers license. And the public officials insist on it. The economy of South Florida would collapse if it was all legit. And these people vote and they can swing Florida and Florida is a swing state. Carl Hiaasen once said. "A lot of places have dead people voting and a lot of places have people paid to vote, but Miami is the only place dead people are paid to vote. " Port security. Miami. Don't make me laugh.

I'll be damned if our leaders will do backroom deals with our enemies for dollar gain while our troops are fighting them on the frontlines of the GWOT.

Quite apart from the fact that our troops go to the Emirates not to fight the Arabs there but for R&R (especially Dubai), your comment that the President is selling out the military for personal dollar gain is despicable. Not even the 'Rats in the Senate would make such a ridiculous charge. Before you smear the personal honor of our President, you had better provide evidence to back it up. Otherwise, keep your vile hatred to yourself. It soils this fine site.

The UAE is a friendly country. Further, they sell us oil, we have to let them use the dollars to buy something from us. If you don't like this arrangement, stop using their oil or form a corporation, raise the capital and out bid them for the ports.

Megadittoes, thank you for putting it succinctly.

Now having said that, tomorrow I will buy stock in Toyota, hoping to gain profit from sale of their Prius (hybrid product). Because I just know that these FReepers who are SO hysterical about this port issue will run out and buy them.... right!??

crickets.........

I checked those threads to see the reparations talk. I had to see it 15 times before I could believe that a "conservative" candidate could possibly be an advocate for reparations.

Why, EV, I really don't care about what is a political loser for Republicans, I care about what is important for the nation.

It is not just a defensible deal, it is now 'important for the nation'.

Riiiiight......

Why arab anything?

Because they have oil. We want oil and have to trade assets to get it. Further, a saudi is already the largest shareholder in both apple computer and citicorp.

No, I take you as evil, mostly.

Yeah, I know. And you're the Angel of Light, trying to keep that halo on while you promote a charlatan like Alan Keyes, who despises his own daughter.
