ABOARD AIR FORCE ONE (AP) President Bush says the deal allowing an Arab company to take over six major U.S. seaports should go forward and he will veto any bill that would stop it.
I'm going to bed. This is boring. All they have is the race card...and that's a deuce.
Bump for later.
They could abolish the Presidency itself, as long as they could get the ammendment approved, on the other hand the President could only abolish the Congress with force.
"I see no one has yet answered my simple question - would you allow the UAE to run operations at US nuclear power plants?"
I'll answer. ...No.
That's another site full of misinformation. The UAE isn't being given security for our ports with this deal. They aren't being offered "lucrative ownership of our corporations". DHS DOES run the security for our ports.
But other than that, they did correctly identify themselves as a blog.....
We did too, but regret that the election ended up going to Clinton.
Oh well, live and learn, right? Just don't want to make the same mistake again, not that it gives us a real conservative to vote for....
My commentary you quoted references the domestic politics of the deal, not the policies of the deal itself which encompasses not only ports/security/economics but relations with Arab countries. The two are separate points of debate. I think the hysterics that have erupted reveal for themselves it was a bad political move. Bad policy move is something I haven't yet firmed an opinion about, though I would agree IF it's a good policy move killing it because of politics would be foolhardy.
However, I am not going to agree with the statement all folks against this hate Arabs. That is ridiculous as folks quoting DU rhetoric against the President. Sure, SOME, may, but not all and probably a good bet not the majority.
He's not handing ports to anyone! Geez. This is a simple business transaction, and the ones securing the ports are the same entities that have been securing and patrolling these ports for as long as this country has existed.
Get a freakin clue before you jump off the deep end.
Terrorists will be manning the ports? Really?
How come I'm just now finding this out?
I have linked that several times. I have pointed it out several times that you guys are using a different spokesman as well. You think maybe it would be a good idea to read my posts before calling me a liar or a dupe?
Here is a FR thread discussing it...Link
Great analogy, EV.
The discovery of this deal was cause for concern and investigation. That's what Congress members, Senators and the public called for.
Given all that, President Bush threatens to veto any legislation that comes from our lawmakers, as supported by the people. THAT is the aftershock, and a particularly nasty one.
Not to mention, our military folks -- according to local talk show host, Marine Captain Dale Dye -- are agin' the deal and want it quashed. THAT matters not?
BTW, the fast-growing Dubai economy looks like a VERY lucrative market! Hmmm....
Are you opposed to racial profiling?...I mean if your looking for a purple people eater, you wouldn't advocate stopping and questioning Ronald McDonald or Big Bird would you?
Common sense says your going to pay a visit to Barney...
Heavens forbid...that would be profiling...I would lose sleep over that....NOT
How utterly disgusting and petty.
I think they have several decks of race cards. They've been flying around all over the place.
That potential is always there, no matter which company is running the ports. The UAE company said they are NOT going to be in charge of securing the ports, which is obvious because no company would be. That job is delegated to DHS.
Someone posted earlier that it's come out that Dubai has laws in place that limit American involvement in their economy. Ironic, eh?
"I see no one has yet answered my simple question - would you allow the UAE to run operations at US nuclear power plants?"
For enough money obviously Bush would ,and if he would, some here would.
I think I've figured it out. Dubai=Dubyai
No, I do not oppose profiling.
Then is it therefore obvious that Dubai is racist.
He'll be clueless about this British-owned company buyout too.
