ABOARD AIR FORCE ONE (AP) President Bush says the deal allowing an Arab company to take over six major U.S. seaports should go forward and he will veto any bill that would stop it.
what they ignore regarding mcveigh is that there WAS a middle eastern connection to OKC
Great point. The region is so unstable. Just because this current gubmint of Dubai is an ally in the WOT doesn't mean that's how it always will be. We know that these governments are as warring as our own. Our bureaucracies
have historically been rife with Communists, one-worlders and various other anti-American creatures. The idea that the gubmint elite of the UAE is all pro-American is nuts. It is probable that there are anti-American jihadist factions that have lots of juice in the UAE who would love to bring harm to America.
This port deal is NUTS.
None that is Constitutional. This is one foreign country that had legal standing to operate these ports in the U.S. that was just purchased by another Foreign company. Bush spelled it out; eventually if Congress is really really dumb, they will be standing in front of Scalia, Thomas, Alito, Roberts and the rest, explaining that these "swarthy a-rabs" make what was legal, now illegal by Congressional Fiat. That is the entire argument. No more, no less. Ok for Brits, Not Ok for Arabs. That wont make it out of court, if by dumb luck it ever got in. Congress knows there is nothing they could do about it, because if they could, Bush would not have called them on their obvious bigotry today. It is over.
I never saw huge demonstrations of Catholics when the IRA would blow up Irish Protestant kids on the way to school.
Is that supposed to prove something?
Not this again. Until we get the discussion out of the gutter and actually discuss facts on the ground no discussion will be useful. All of today at this forum it's been all insults.
Bushbots! Terrorists! You're drunk! You're stupid!
Cripes. Elevate the discussion or butt out.
this is definitely worse than miers, i dont mean in terms of the decision itself but rather the response that it has generated on FR.
pull up a seat...we're just getting warmed up!
Pull the leases.
Your post proves just how ill-informed you are about who actually is in charge of port security.
How many demonstrations did you attend in the streets?
Well did you see any huge demonstrations of Catholics celebrating the IRA attacks either? That is the whole point.
Look back at 9/11 and what did you see in the muslim streets? We saw huge demonstrations of general public celebrating. We also saw muslim religious leaders praise the attacks.
If Islam is truly a religion of peace and Islam was simply hijacked by evil men, then where are the huge counter-demonstrations?
Your chart is a little misleading, look at the date at the bottom.
No doubt. I can't tell you how sick and tired I am of preening politically correct grandstanders pulling out the example of Timothy McVeigh to try to argue that John Smith is just as likely to blow you up as Mohammed Shahal. Even worse are the ones who use it as an example of how Christians are just as likely to blow you up as Muslims. To my knowledge, Timothy McVeigh was no Christian-----though if there is evidence that he was I'd be interested in seeing it.
Huh? You believe that the Islamic world was against the 9/11 attacks?
He doesn't have one. That's what makes it all suspect.
So while we share the offense that Muslims have taken at these images, we at the same time vigorously defend the right of individuals to express points of view.
You don't see any problem with the first half of that statement?
Sadly, he seems more like Damien Thorn with regard to globalism.
"Trust Me" will not work on this. It did not work for Meirs, it won't work now.
Right now on KABC 790 AM, Al Rantel is debating the subject of the UAE takeover with the UK's Mike Mendoza during their weekly overseas discussion.
The state department quote I posted was not anything like that.
