Who is Pat Buchanon?
He's not the guy who turned himself blue eating too much kelated silver is he?

...a little learning can be a dangerous thing... Indeed, it can, Pat. Perhaps you should think twice before lecturing a history professor on history.
Arrogant fool.

Although previously posted here, I have no complaint and hope this reposting will allow even more people to read patster's idiocy.

As I understand it, Pat thinks WWII was none of our business either.
IMHO this makes him incapable of judging a serious national threat when it kicks him in the teeth.

Diplomacy worked with Gadhafi. Why not try it with Iran? I don't think Pat is really this stupid or ignorant of recent history. So it's sad to think he stretches the truth this far to fit his world view.

I've even heard liberals coming out and supporting bombing Iran's nuclear facilities.
Pat, you're a sludge brain. You've gone off the deep end. You're the one who needs some "facts."

Milosevic then became the "Hitler of the Balkans," though he had lost Slovenia, Croatia and Macedonia, was struggling to hold Bosnia and Kosovo, and had defeated no one. That was strictly Clinton's war, conducted to cover his sorry a** and divert public attention.
If PB doesn't care that a lunatic like Ahmedinejad has nukes, he's further gone than I thought.

And if we were not intimidated by a USSR with thousands of nuclear warheads targeted on us, why should Ahmadinejad cause Newt to break out in cold sweats at night? Too complex for Pat to fathom I guess.
Pat, the Soviets were not eager to incinerate themselves in the glory of their religion!
The Soviets oppressed religion.

In 1942, Hitler's armies dominated Europe from the Pyrenees to the Urals. Ahmadinejad is the president of a nation whose air and naval forces would be toasted in hours by the United States. The point is you don't wait until your "Hitler" is an existential threat to bring him down. By waiting until Hitler "dominated Europe from the Pyrenees to the Urals" we had to endure a war that killed 50 million people. Is that really Buchanan's advice?
Ahmadinejad apparently does not yet have nuclear weapons. But he has expressed his intent to have them and use them. Does Buchanan recommend waiting until he does have them? And then do, what?

As I said in this post's last incarnation where you have a Churchill and a Hitler you probably also have a Chamberlain and a Quisling. One responder also mentioned Lindberg.
Which role does Buchanan play?
To: Courdeleon02
About the only part of the article I can agree with concerns the lunacy of bombing the Serbs.
No question Iran doesn't have the wherewithal of Nazi Germany, but warfare has also changed dramatically since that time with the rise of terrorism and advent of nukes. Iran is certainly a destabilizing and dangerous factor in a very important part of the world and Ahmadinejad has visions which aren't that much different from Hitler's in many respects.
To: Courdeleon02
I'm not a big Buchanan fan ... but just once I'd like to read one of his articles followed by intelligent refutation of his arguments rather than a hundred "Pat is an idiot" posts.
To: Courdeleon02
This man truly doesn't know anything. Churchill was way ahead of Buchanan in intelligence and judgment.
I like the line from another Freeper: "Pat's uncle died in a concentration camp. Fell right out of his tower."
To: Courdeleon02
Of course Pat is a great admirer of Hilter who Pat refers to as "an individual of great courage, a soldier's soldier in the Great War, a political organizer of the first rank, a leader steeped in the history of Europe, who possessed oratorical powers that could awe..."
To: Courdeleon02
Comments like this will soon be forgotten when Iran tests its bomb. There is no value in letting outsiders speculate about whether or not you have the bomb, the Iranians would be far better off demonstrating it to the world. By showing they already have a sophisticated and deliverable nuclear device, options for invasion or preemptive strikes vanish least they set off a nuclear war. The Democrats will of course blame Bush for not doing anything and letting this happen, but will hamstring him from doing anything about the bomb militarily. The weak kneed in Israel will also prevent the IDF from doing anything least the Iranians lob a bomb on Tel Aviv. Muslim fanatics will rejoice at the prospect of nuclear weapons in their jihad against the west and Israel and Iran will assume a position of preeminence in the Muslim world. They have everything to gain by going all out to complete their bomb while the west wrings its collective hands and the UN thinks about meaningless sanctions.
