You can always tell when the War Party wants a new war. They will invariably trot out the Argumentum ad Hitlerum.
Before the 1991 Gulf War, Saddam had become "the Hitler of Arabia," though he had only conquered a sandbox half the size of Denmark. Milosevic then became the "Hitler of the Balkans," though he had lost Slovenia, Croatia and Macedonia, was struggling to hold Bosnia and Kosovo, and had defeated no one.

Which role does Buchanan play?
About the only part of the article I can agree with concerns the lunacy of bombing the Serbs.
No question Iran doesn't have the wherewithal of Nazi Germany, but warfare has also changed dramatically since that time with the rise of terrorism and advent of nukes. Iran is certainly a destabilizing and dangerous factor in a very important part of the world and Ahmadinejad has visions which aren't that much different from Hitler's in many respects.
I'm not a big Buchanan fan ... but just once I'd like to read one of his articles followed by intelligent refutation of his arguments rather than a hundred "Pat is an idiot" posts.
Like bereanway's #22 ... thanks.
This man truly doesn't know anything. Churchill was way ahead of Buchanan in intelligence and judgment.
I like the line from another Freeper: "Pat's uncle died in a concentration camp. Fell right out of his tower."
The war drums are usually pounded by those who are the arm chair generals and those who never served in the military and never faced the bullets flying.
Have you seen the Muslim rave video?
No, actually I have not. Do they behead one of the rave attendees ? Or do they all just sit around mumbling in two separete (male/female) rooms ?
That might not be possible as Pat has no spiritual grounding nor political grounding.
Pat somehow thinks he is the smartest person in the world and everyone else is stupid.
He is only interested in hearing Pat talk.

Of course Pat is a great admirer of Hilter who Pat refers to as "an individual of great courage, a soldier's soldier in the Great War, a political organizer of the first rank, a leader steeped in the history of Europe, who possessed oratorical powers that could awe..."
Is there another URL link to Buchanan's article in the original German?
Poor, poor Pat. He is trying to stake out some exclusive political territory to differentiate himself from the pack. Too bad he chose some swamp land on the lunatic fringe.
That includes Pitty Pat.
I admire how Pat invoked Godwin's Law and autoflamed himself before half the article was over...
Hitler should have been finished in 1923 when he led a failed uprising in Munich. You're 100% correct. The lesson of Hitler, a lesson the dolt Pat Buchanan is incapable of learning, is that we don't wait until the fate of civilization hangs in the balance. We don't put ourselves at the mercy of lunatics with nuclear weapons. The Iranian mullahs and the Syrian dictator Assad are currently funding and supporting those who kill Americans in Iraq. We've let them get away with that. Now, Pat wants to let them get away with getting a nuke too? For God's sake, Buchanan grow up. You can't hate Israel that much, Buchanan, can you?

Does Godwins law apply to Buchanan's critics? Or Newt?
