Top war crimes fugitive Mladic arrested: report
Yahoo news ^

BELGRADE (Reuters) - Top Bosnian Serb war crimes fugitive General Ratko Mladic has been arrested, the official Serbian news agency Tanjug on Tuesday quoted a local television station in Bosnia's Serb Republic as saying.

No immediate confirmation of the report was available.

Tanjug said TV BN reported the wartime Bosnian Serb Army commander had been taken into custody in the Serbian capital Belgrade and was being transferred via the northeast Bosnian city of Tuzla to the U.N. war crimes tribunal in The Hague.

An earlier report by Belgrade's "Studio B" television said Mladic had been located "in the area of Tuzla," which lies close to the mountainous border with Serbia.

Mladic was indicted in 1995 for genocide for the 43-month siege of Sarajevo which claimed 12,000 lives and for orchestrating the 1995 massacre of some 8,000 Muslims at Srebrenica, the worst atrocity in Europe since World War Two.

I will be the first to tell you the Serbs got a raw deal from the U.N. while being backed by NATO.

I have been there and just wish somehow we can stop this crap once and for all. To me, raising children to kill other children over something that happened over 800 years ago is a crime in itself.

The Muslims are more guilty of this than anyone else and the Serbs and Croats are more than willing to comply. I am willing to bet that the average Serb and Croat probably is sick and tired of all this fighting also.

I found this photo titled:

315 x 180 pixels - 14k - jpg
news.bbc.co.uk

And it looks to me like they are flying a Bosnian Muslim and Croat flag - which I'd guess would have to be before the war was over and SFOR occupied Bosnia - for didn't they change the flag to a UN approved one?

So explain this:

First: Thank you for your service to our country.
Second: I agree with you that seeking who is right and who is wrong in the Balkans is fruitless.
Third: All sides considered atrocities in what should have been universally recognized as "The Yugoslavian Civil War."
Had we viewed it that way, the Serbs would have been the defenders. The Croats and Muslims would have been the aggressors and the Slovenes would have been the Yuppies who got others to do their dirty work.
Fourth: Our dog in that hunt is our national security and expanding the range of control of the Muslims in Europe is not in our national interest.
Fifth: You will not get this ethnic group of South Slavs which is split in three religions to get along, ever.
Sixth: So, pick a friend and back him consistently.
Seventh: The Muslims are not your friend.

"Igman was Serb, I stand by that statement, but you are correct in the time date, but after mid-93."

When did the Serbs loose control of it again though?

I've got photos of the British Army shooting from Mount Igman in August 1995. Did Serbs hand it over? How long had the British been there?

Here is artwork by David Rowlands of the British on Mount Igman. He was under commission with the British Army:

We are in agreement on all points.

I do know that some of the arguments posted here has been used to justify killing other people for thousands of years. The only thing I see disturbing is that this situation is destined to go on for another 800 years and that is the ultimate crime.

Wanting a better future for our children is not a bad thing and not exclusively a conservative or a liberal position but it is a honorable one.

"While the Muslim did snipe and shell Serb parts of the city, they were heavily outgunned in terms of guns, mortars and tanks throughout the war (which is why they were usually on the defensive despite greater manpower)."

They were getting weapons smuggled in, and became better equipped and organized despite the "blockade". "Enormous" amounts of weapons were heading to Bosnia - though much of it had to be transported through Croatia, and they took a good percentage for themselves.

The Bosnians and Muslims also controlled weapons factories and there was heavy fighting between them over an explosives plant in Vitez.

UN was looking the other way while foreign fighters and weapons came in (often under guise of charity and aid).

This is minor, its the residuals of WWII and the 45 subsequent years of Tito that really helped make matters into what they are today.

But have you noticed how quickly it made the rounds? Yahoo is a relatively big news aggregation outfit.

Someone is really desperate to get this out there for the sheeple to consume.

Yep, there's the war criminal himself...

He's the one wearing the Yugoslav hat.

It only goes to show how easy it is to manipulate the public. I bet nobody even bothered to confirm the info before going ahead and publishing the "news."

There are only 4-5 original reports. The 1000s of hits that you get on Google News will lead you to 1000s of sites publishing the news through syndication.

Muslim and Croats started war in Bosnia trying to do to Serbs what they did 1941-1945. At that time, especially in the beginning of the war they 90', 91' and 92', tied flags together. This picture is from period when Croat and muslim were united against Serbs.

Caption should read:

“Mortars of The Royal Netherlands Marine Corps in action, against Serbs (especially) civilians. Doing what England was doing for centuries – helping muslim against Orthodox Christians”
