Brit Hume: Bush Will Reverse Ports Decision
NewsMax ^ | 2/19/06 | Carl Limbacher

Posted on 02/19/2006 10:30:27 AM PST by LibWhacker

The Bush administration will reverse its decision to allow a Dubai company based in the United Arab Emirates to gain control over several key U.S. ports, the Fox News Channel's Brit Hume predicted on Sunday.

"I don't think the administration will be able to sustain this," Hume told "Fox News Sunday." "I think it will have to reverse itself in some way or create some entity that stands between the company and the management of the ports."

"I just don't think [the decision] can stand," he added. "It doesn't sound good to let some Arab shieks to be in charge of our ports - that's what it comes down to."

Appearing on the same program, Sen. Lindsey Graham slammed the ports decision, saying, "It's unbelievably tone deaf politically at this point in our history, four years after 9/11, to entertain the idea of turning port security over to a company based in the U.A.E., who avows to destroy Israel."

In a decision announced last week, the Bush administration's Committee on Foreign Investment approved the purchase of six major U.S. ports by the U.A.E.-based Dubai Ports World.

The move set off a firestorm of criticism, with skeptics complaining that banks in the U.A.E. have helped launder money for terrorists and that the country itself was home to Marwan al Shehhi, the Sept. 11 hijacker who piloted United Airlines Flight 175 into Tower 2 of the World Trade Center.

On Friday, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice defended the Dubai deal, telling a Mideast news outlet: "There was a thorough review. It was decided that this could be done and done safely."

Where's Puke Dog? He, MJjonnie and you seem to be the only ones favoring this. Having a UAE company manage the ports makes as much sense as stepping in front of a speeding semi - the driver might be able to stop, but why take the chance.

I agree with Brit and Lindsey. This port deal must be stopped.

Hells bells nobody with half a brain would put the safety of the chicken house in the hands of a fox!

The problem with this decision is the leadership of the congress and whitehouse are rife with less than quarter brainers!

DUMB BUTTS!

Whole problem is the Junk Journalists

Oh, so Brit is a "junk journalist" now, is he? I'll venture a guess that his sources are a helluva lot better than yours and that he's right about the upcoming WH reversal. Now wipe that brown stuff off your nose, Bothead.

I come away from trying to reach people on subjects like this, feeling quite inadequate to do so.

I've got a great idea. We're just way to over-protective these days. What a bunch of worry-warts we've turned into.

At our homes let's leave our cars unlocked with the keys int he ignition. Let's leave the front door wide open at night. Let's put a sign on the front lawn, "Virgin In the Front Bedroom" please don't come inside, you might wake the parents upstairs in the back.

Let's let our three and four year old children play on the front lawn near heavy traffic with no adult supervision. Let's not buy that car insurance. To hell with healthcare coverage.

Knives can be left where children can reach them. Caustic substances can remain under the sink without a protective latch. Don't replace that freyed extension cord.

Let's not teach our children gun safety. If the ten year old wants the car, for God sake give them the keys.

National security is nothing more than taking preventative measures to protect the national family. By God, screw it. Who needs it?

Let's finance our largest global adversary's militaristic desires.
Let's forget about the Panama Canal and a Chinese presence there.
Let's allow COSCO to ply our coastlines and most vital ports.
Let's let foreign nations run our ports.
Let's continue to allow people to come here from terrorist states.
Let's continue to allow our national home to be invaded by three to five million unknowns each year.
Let's cut back our military.
Let's close as many bases as possible.
Let's cut our Navy in less than half.
Let's destroy about 95% of our nuclear arsenal.
Space, aw let's go through the motions, burn off as much funds as possible and achieve nearly nothing.
Space, let's watch other nations progress while we act as if we're impotent.
Education, hey let's double the budget of a department that is hell bent on destorying our values system.
Education, let's continue to allow the DOE to produce students that place something like 19th in the world.

Yes, none of this matters. Those of us who think they do are just way too easily disturbed.

Only two of the 9-11 terrorists were from the UAE.

The guy who flew the plane into the south tower was from the UAE, he caused the most fatalities. None of the 9-11 terrorists were Danish, British, Japanese, Chinese, Italian, Swedish, Finnish, Polish, Korean, Boer, Chilean, Greek, Croatian, Serb, Thai, French, Australian, Irish. They were all Moslem.

I don't know how long it will take before people realize who the enemy is.

It's been said many times around here, but it's true -- it's going to take a terrorist attack on our soil that makes 9/11 look like minor event.

Anyone bother to notice there are NO actually facts reported about this Company? Notice the whole story is based on guilty by association and rumor?

IMO, you can make this statement about the majority of MSM stories.

When I was in 8th grade, over twenty years ago, I had a wise teacher teach my class that "buying American" was not the best way to go. She was brilliant and exposed hardcore unions to us. It was the first time I started thinking about things besides picking zits.

No kidding...You believed her then and STILL do...You should have stuck with the zits...

I don't dwell on this constantly. It's not my job to do so. By God it is the job of some people in a mall area on the east coast, and those bastards are screwing this nation right into the dirt. I may not be able to do anything about it, but I sure as hell don't have to be silent and docile about it.

Some of us out here are none too happy with our leaders. I may not be a member of the DoE, but I can still issue grades and these folks are getting F minuses on just about everything but the war effort.

Ah, yes, our "good" friend the UAE.

The UAE, whose plane was filmed in Afghanistan landing with their big whigs going to visit Bin Laden.

The UAE, who was doing business with Roger Clinton and some of his cronies that got a pardon from brother Bill.

With friends like this....
