That deafening noise we've been hearing is the sound of wheels falling off the most secretive and autocratic presidency in our history.
The disintegration is long overdue. This nation of laws, separation of powers and equal justice has suffered enough.
After five torturous years, we are finally getting a look inside a government led by a cadre of self-righteous demagogues, committed to opportunism, self-aggrandizement and self-enrichment.
Many, including one-time friends and associates of the Bush/Cheney power elite, have been preaching the horrors of what's going on behind closed doors, only to be shouted down, bullied, threatened or smeared.
Even members of their own party are not spared. NewsMax.com, a conservative Web site, recently reported that "White House Deputy Chief of Staff Karl Rove has threatened to blacklist any Republican who votes against President Bush in the Senate Judiciary Committee's investigation of the administration's unauthorized wiretapping..."
Fortunately there are those who have had enough and are coming forward.
- Someone in the administration, concerned that the Bush/Cheney cabal is violating Americans' civil liberties, leaked wiretapping information.
- A retired career CIA intelligence officer wrote in the respected "Foreign Affairs" journal that the administration cherry-picked intelligence to justify the invasion of Iraq. This dove-tails with earlier information from ex-administration officials that Bush/Cheney were hell-bent on sending people to die in a country that had nothing whatsoever to do with the 9/11 terror attacks.
And even disgraced insiders are squealing.
- Michael Brown, the fired Katrina debacle scapegoat, turned on his former bosses after they hung him out to dry. He told the Senate under oath that he warned the White House early on that the hurricane was a disaster but was ignored.
- Ex-Cheney chief of staff and indicted perjurer I. Lewis Libby reportedly has testified that he was authorized by his "superiors" to leak classified information as part of a plan to justify the administration's Iraq invasion.
- Associates of lobbyist Jack Abramoff, who the White House would have us believe Bush/Cheney barely knew, are telling tales about how the convicted GOP influence merchant was, in truth, very tight with Bush/Cheney. So much so that he claims to have been invited to the president's ranch - after ponying up $100 grand for the good of the Bush/Cheney cause.
Hopefully, as more people get fed up - for whatever reason - or they grow spines, we'll find out even more about what has happened to this nation since the Supreme Court put this crowd in charge.
Let the cleansing begin.
Perhaps, the wheels are coming off in Detroit thanks to this insane hatred of one's country.
Precisely.
Re#51 Great idea. The WH presstitutes are such prima donnas that it would drive them nuts. Mehtinks that W will tweak them in any event...
I did chuckle to myself (on my honeymoon) that Traverse City is the "Cherry Capital of the World"...
They even have a cherry festival and cherry parade.
Re#54 Yep. W ain't done with 'em yet. Hehehehe...
"...we're the same as iran."
Oh, good lord! One day on board and you're already starting this crap? A good zotting awaits you my friend.
Not the residents, just the MSM, self-absorbed bloviators.
I DO hear wheels coming off, but I think it's on the MSM machine....
Wasn't there an election in 2004 that did not involve the Supreme Court? This guy's not only a crazy America-hater, he's just plain stupid.
I'm working from home today so as usual the TV is on. Katie Couric interviewed Mary mMtilin (sp?) about the hunting accident. While Katie had her head down reading the BS quotes about the whole thing Mary was rolling her eyes in the split screen then attacking.
It was pretty funny.
Side note: For her science fair project, a 7th grade girl tested the toilet water and the ice in 10 local fast food resturaunts and found that in 70% of the cases, the ice had MORE bacteria in it than the toilet water.
"Dave Miller, Editorial Page Editor of the Traverse City Record Eagle, is the entire editorial department and writes the majority of the editorials for the paper, which reaches 13 counties including 31,000 readers daily and 41,000 Sunday." http://64.233.179.104/search?q=cache:-2EUspL9WD4J:www.wmprsa.org/Resources/Past%2520Issues/feb05.htm+%22Dave+Miller%22+Record+Eagle&hl=en&gl=us&ct=clnk&cd=4
Love that pic! ROTFLOL!
Yes, I was a college student living downtown TC when President Ford was in the parade. No doubt that there is a smaller faction of the university that is on the same bandwidth as the local MSM. The place is loaded with rich republicans, lol.
"What's amazing is the media making these claims as they ignored Clinton's unprecedented purges from all levels of the executive branch when he was president."
Purges. Hmm. A good word to associate with a national leader who had more people connected to him die or disappear under mysterious circumstances than Joseph Stalin.
Tinfoil hat wearer - he forgot "shiny side out"...
You should also have mentioned the poll on the front: http://www.record-eagle.com/
This poll could use some Freeping.
I can't wait.
One good thing about this article - I knew I could stop reading after the first sentence.
