If Sen. John McCain runs for president in 2008, fellow Republican Susan Collins of Maine will serve as one of his Senate advisors.
A spokesman for Sen. Collins confirmed that McCain asked her if she would be one of his advisors if he decides to seek the White House. The spokesman, Kevin Kelley, said Collins told McCain that he would.
The Arizona senator is regarded as a likely potential candidate for the Republican nomination.

Seems to me the ones who want tear the Republican Party apart are the ones trying to turn it into a religion with dogma. Accept this or your a heretic and we cast you out. I am so sick of these fanatics. If we loose the next election I WILL blame it on the "our way or the highway" crowd. Huh?

I have seen him act in frankly unbalanced ways on more than one occasion. I do not believe he has the emotional satbility to be the Commander in Chiefwhole ball of wax -

I agree. And I do understand that there is a problem with rigidity. Most honorable men will say prove to me I'm wrong. But there are few honorable men anymore.

I am not sure what this "containment" plans consists of.
He is up for the Senate so he could be dumped? Okay...but he is a little insane. That wouldn't kill a third party spoiler run, would it? I see that it would hurt him a bit to have furious opposition at home. But I don't see it stopping him. He is a little insane. (It is like all those jokes about the scorpion hitching a ride on a frogs back across the Red Sea.)

"And we also agree on the number one issue. Ending abortion."
The number one issue is not ending abortion. The number one issue is not allowing any leftist to sell our country out to global governance.

Despite all the conspiracy theories I don't perceive that as a serious threat. Abortion is a reality and remains the one issue that I will not compromise on.

,,,fellow Republican Susan Collins of Maine will serve as one of his Senate advisors. Another good reason not to vote for McCain.

I don't think McVain will run. He will be 72 in '08 - too old.
If he does run, he will quickly wash out in the primaries because he's - too old.

The political "center" is getting narrower and narrower.
It is made up of people who don't know squat.
Once they figure out sh** from Shinola, they choose a side.

My question: WHO is pushing for McCain to run??? I doubt it's the voters. Is he the best our party can offer? Sad......Want to answer blondee123, F16? It's a good question.

The primaries will be fun. I figure we leave them speechless when they lose, but it should be fun listening to Collins explain it all.

McCain will continue to inch closer and closer to the right in his attempt to woo just enough conservatives to put him over the top. He already has:
1)The liberal/moderate Repub vote locked up,
2)A majority of the independent vote,
3)And some of the dem vote.
