A Day in the Life of President Bush - (photos) - 2.14.06

Today President Bush welcomed the 2005 NCAA National Champion University of Texas Longhorns football team to the South Lawn at the White House, where he congratulated the team and coaches with great humor and warmth.........and a lot of Texas pride! Later in the day, he welcomed members of the President's Council on Service and Civic Participation in the Oval Office of the White House. The council, created by the USA Freedom Corps in 2003, promotes volunteerism and recognizes Americans who serve our communities and the world.

First Lady, Laura Bush visited the Giant Pandas at the National Zoo.

Today the news was released that Mr. Harry Whittington, who was accidentally hit with birdshot in a hunting accident with Vice President Cheney, had had a very mild, asymptomatic heart attack. He is being carefully watched and being treated conservatively, and is expected to fully recover. We need to keep Mr Whittington and Vice President Cheney in our prayers. The media are in a feeding frenzy, and are completely out of control.

Enjoy your trip to Sanity Island............ some wonderful photos today on the Daily Dose!! And a Happy Valentines Day to you all!!

You sound happy and I hope you are! Warmer climes sound good; our predicted high for the next few days is about 20 degrees.

And you know what? The VP would have a HUGE laugh at it, unlike "some" party who would have an absolute tizzy about it. No sense of humor.

Excellent idea, homemom! Have the White House call David Gregory personally every time anyone has a headache.

Tell him that the American people have the right to know, so they expect him to put it in breaking news.

And then say that they hope they never hurt his 5 year old feelings again......

It will fade away, but it will leave a bad taste in the mouths of anyone who watched this media circus.

No one respects them as it is.......but if it's possible, the amount of respect for them has gone down even more....

Lots of keepers, indeed! The hook-em-horns sign and the smirk in the same pic are just too good!

I was trying to find a good quote from it, but the whole thing was so funny, I figured it wouldn't hurt to put it all in.

Everybody there was having SUCH fun. It was just neat.

I think David Gregory should be called FIRST for every single menial thing that ever happens from now on. The Pres. forgets to put a new roll of toilet paper in the bathroom, David Gregory gets called. We should NEVER, EVER deprive him from any bit of news ever again. Obviously (to him) he is THE ONLY one who has that right of first notification . . . even if it interrupts his snack time. :-)

I was unavoidably away from the TV and missed it, ohio, but just knowing the situation and the people there I know it was a big ol' Texas blast. Glad you enjoyed it.

But tell me, as such a Buckeye fan yourself, can you ever forgive the Longhorns for beating them in Columbus, even?

If I were in your shoes, I would have a hard time with that.

But you see the President getting some joy over this, and for that to happen the Longhorns first had to win in Columbus. Without it, this day would've never come.

So who wins your heart on this one, FReeper friend?

Thanks for not asking. :) The family's good. We talked with all four on Sunday, and other than the normal ups and downs of life, they're all doing fine.

We like the empty nest thing, homemom. It hurt a lot for a while, then it was weird, but now it's VERY nice.

Hmmmm..........I didn't have ANY trouble with it at all.

The game was a good one, and the Buckeyes could have won it, but didn't. With the improvements they made through the season, had the game been later, I think they WOULD have won.

That said, I cheered like crazy for the Longhorns in the Rose Bowl (I despise USC). I love football, but I don't have problems with really good honorable teams winning. (Remember that OSU won the Fiesta Bowl big time).

And when the President is happy, I am happy, so I was honored and excited to do the Dose on the day that this fine football team got to meet their super fine President. :)
