The vice president's office just released the following statement:
"The Vice President was told when he arrived at the White House this morning that doctors had decided, based on overnight monitoring, to perform a cardiac catheterization on Mr. Whittington.
The Vice President's chief of staff passed him a note at about 12:30pm ET to inform him that Mr. Whittington's doctors would brief in Texas about 1:00pm ET on complications in Mr. Whittington's condition. The Vice President was on Capitol Hill when he received this information.
When the Vice President returned to the White House, he was able to watch part of the press conference. At about 1:30pm ET, the Vice President called Mr. Whittington and spoke to him. The Vice President wished Mr. Whittington well and asked if there was anything he needed. The Vice President said that he stood ready to assist. Mr. Whittington's spirits were good, but obviously his situation deserves the careful monitoring that his doctors are providing.
The Vice President said that his thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Whittington and his family."
Thank you for saying that!! You know the kind of man the VP is and this must have hurt him deeply. There are some in the msm and here who are taking the opportunity to fantasize about being superior to the 2nd most powerful man in the world because of this accident....like they are know-it-alls. The guy was in brush and high weeds according to eyewitness Mrs. Armstrong.
Did you get the freepmail I sent you? It made it quite clear she left her position for the VP in 2002, as I recall from my quick scan of it.
I'll tell you what. It's incumbent on you to show me that she's still on staff, because a simple google of her name shows me she left the WH and VP's office a few years ago.
I just turned it on now and see some idiot (Maher?) saying that everyone has blamed the victim. I've yet to see anyone blame the victim.
I've yet to see "his people" claim that Whittington was at fault.
I guess when Armstrong and Willeford say he was to the right, they don't know what they saw with their own eyes.
Yeppers, that's why they call them accidents and not on-purposes.
You may believe that everyone who is an "advisor" or "counselor" to the WH or anyone in in must be "on staff", but I think you know better.
I would love to hear a press conference where Cheney says "This morning while trying to hit the snooze button on my alarm clock I accidently hit the wrong button and nuked Iran. I thought you would like to be made aware of this regrettable accident".
Are these just rogues, in your opinion?
Show me that she's still an advisor. (Typically advisors are paid and thus considered on staff, at least by those who cut the checks, but I won't quibble).
I'm just going along here reading the thread and from an objective viewpoint lugsoul, you seem obsessed. Why not go take a walk? Clear your head out. A hundred years from now on a dark and stormy night in Georgia - who's gonna give a da*n?
ROFL!
I do think we could bomb North Korea AND Iran and the press wouldn't notice until maybe Friday.
I quoted from a CNN article source. Please provide your source to prove otherwise.
Matalin no longer has any function for the VP, as a simple google search reflects.
McClellan - I'd have to see his statement in context. If he was trying to lay the blame on Whittington, that's wrong. If he was trying to explain to a hostile press what happened and Whittington violated protocol in some way, then his comment has a little more context. It doesn't mean to me that it means Cheney is the victim or innocent here. Whoever holds the gun has the responsibility and I think nearly everyone with a brain in their head understands that.
Someone on FNC just e-mailed in to John Gibbons and said what Whittington should have done is yell "I've been shot. Call a reporter." LOL
You can be a liar. You can be an a-hole. But please refrain from being both simultaneously.
It IS protocol to announce if you've moved out of position. Does that mean that McClellan was blaming Whittington?
The press was rabid yesterday and wanted every single detail. If that was one of the details, I don't understand why you object to his comment.
