Burr had to flee NY I think (with good reason). Let me get a history link.

That doesn't follow and it isn't true. Speak for yourself.

Yes, it is very bad timing to suggest that.

It's not "amazing" to me .. it just par for the course with these people. They hate Cheney and they will do whatever they can to disparage his name.

These HATERS are really sick people!

Couldn't he still be charged with some type of manslaughter? Unintentional? I think in GA he could, but I pinged someone else to this who may know. Or maybe that's just if it happens in the act of a crime?

Heck I don't know, but it may be up to the D.A. if any charges could be files.

The family could file a civil suit probably.

Now we might call Gore a buffoon, an idiot, and a scoundrel, but we wouldn't call for his arrest and imprisonment. Wait, we call him those things anyway.

Angry and depressed over his defeat, Burr decided to try and restore his reputation by challenging Hamilton to a duel. Burr may have hoped that Hamilton would apologize, but the communication between the men escalated until a duel was unavoidable. On July 11, 1804, on the dueling grounds at Weehawken, New Jersey, Burr shot Hamilton dead. In New York and New Jersey, Burr was charged with murder. And in much of the Northeast, Hamilton was mourned as a fallen hero. But to many Americans, particularly in the South, Burr was viewed as a man who had rightfully defended his honor.

Although he was a wanted man, Burr nonetheless enjoyed immunity from prosecution in Washington, D.C. There, he presided over the impeachment trial of Samuel Chase, an associate justice of the U.S. Supreme Court. Burr set a remarkable standard for decorum and fairness during the trial, in which Chase was acquitted. This would not be the last time Burr appeared in a highly publicized federal trial. The next time he would be the defendant in a trial for treason.

I think you are right. But the argument would switch to the fact that the dems are supposed to be anti-guns and don't shoot the helpless (delicious) quail.

And your dog is not cuter than mine. No way.

algore wouldn't be hunting (it's not good for the environment) and even if he were he wouldn't know what to do with the gun. Therefore, if he were to shoot someone, it wouldn't be a hunting accident.

"Yes, it is very bad timing to suggest that."

If it helps, I was suggesting replacing Cheney weeks ago for the same reason of grooming a GOP candidate for 2008.

What's done is done though, and unfortunately, this course of events will change the VP situation in any case.

I love the "victim"! Raise your hand if you have reached the "heard enuf" point! The media clomps on to something and just runs it right into the ground. E-N-O-U-G-H!

Yes. There were murder indictments handed down in both New York and New Jersey. States were trying very hard to put an end to dueling, which had been legally discouraged but were still part of the "code of honor" at the time. Both indictments were eventually quashed, but Burr fled to the South and lay low for some time, first.
