Cheney cleared in hunting accident
White House faces questions about disclosing incident

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (CNN) -- Authorities have cleared Vice President Dick Cheney of wrongdoing in the Texas shooting of a hunting companion, while reporters aimed tough questions at White House officials about their delay in disclosing the accident.
During Tuesday's White House news conference, spokesman Scott McClellan was asked if waiting 14 hours after the shooting before Cheney spoke with police was appropriate, and whether an average citizen would have been afforded the same amount of time.
"That was what was arranged with the local law enforcement authorities," McClellan said. "You ought to ask them that question."
McClellan referred other questions about Cheney's shooting of campaign contributor Harry Whittington to the vice president's office and local police.

Oops, posted that to the wrong thread.
"did anyone hear him say that Cheney and the others were drinking (alcohol) at the time? Well we here on FR know that's not true,"
How do we KNOW that that is "not true."
I wasn't there. Were you?
How does ANYBODY, whether he's from FR or anywhere else, "know" that? Unless he was there?
I really do think a lot of people, on all sides, are jumping the gun (no pun intended) before we have the information to know the whole story.
And more patience than the doctors had! LOL.
Yes, but the media are hoping that this becomes a tragedy, then they won't let go of it for a week!
All media action is based on an agenda. The agenda for this is: Get Bush and get gun control.
Ted: "Day aftah day afta day we've been told lie aftah lie aftah lie. The White House has been obfuscating, covering up, and turning a deaf ear to the cries of the American people for an honest account of what appears to be attempted murder on the paht of the vice president... "
Reporter: "The White House claims it was an accident."
Ted: "Accident? Driving drunk with a woman you're cheating on your wife with, crashing the car off a bridge and swimming to safety, and then not reporting to anyone that the young woman was still trapped in the car and probably alive, but was left to suffocate because I didn't notify the authorities until the next morning. Now THAT'S an accident."
You got that right! Sniveling but with a HUGE ego. I wish I were standing right next to him with a pin. He'd fly around and around after I punched a hole in him!!!
At least this didn't happen in DA(my name is)Earl's jurisdiction.
It has to if you're going to be hunting migratory fowl!
...take cheap shots at me or the administration."
They heard what they wanted, finished it to suit themselves, and drowned out, without hearing, the part that aimed directly at them, and unloaded with BOTH barrels.
Bird shot would be a better choice to shoot the media whores with. It sprays more territory than mace does. ;-)
COMIC GOLD!
Thanks cgk, for info!

You weren't there? Thanks for telling me. David Letterman wasn't either.
I'm just going by what had been reported by the local authorities (sheriff's dept) who were notified of the incident one hour after it happened. I just googled ONE news report saying that alcohol wasn't a factor....there are many. Example:
"The chief deputy sheriff for Kenedy County, Gilbert San Miguel, said the investigation into the shooting had not yet been completed, but that alcohol had not been a contributing factor and that the incident was being treated as a hunting accident."
Maybe you should do more reading instead of shooting your mouth off at me. You sound angry.
You know, if Mr Whittington had been wearing a T-shirt emblazoned with a derogatory image of "the prophet", would the media be so eager to chase this story? Would they show pictures?
I don't know. Let's go ask Senator Kennedy.
I correct myself Burr was VP at the time of the Duel.

If I was McClellan, I'd walk out to the podium with a 12 gauge, lean it against the dais stand and say "Are there any more insanely stupid questions? No? Good. (While ignoring their howls, screams and inquisition-type questions) Now let's move on to some important issues.
