I just heard from a local radio reporter (during Rush newsbreak at approximately 1:00 p.m) that Whittington "may have taken a turn for the worse," and was put back into intensive care.

Man, even Arial Sharon doesn't get this kind of media attention and his case is DIRE!

exactly what I was thinking!
To: A Citizen Reporter
Who was the doc that they had on the phone? I just caught the end of that, but it looks like Mikey and Juliet's producer has managed to find the Cindy Sheehan of the Medical community to interview already.
I'll second that.............

They found somebody to question the doctors in Texas and imply that they are hiding something.
They must be thrilled.

My husband got up and walked out of the room!
He said this doc is an idiot.
He barely agreed to give me his opinion --- and he only translated to me what we were all hearing from the broadcast and presser.
That woman doc is way out of line.

To be put in ICU in the first place indicates that the wounds were somewhat more serious than being peppered. Not necessarily - as someone who has been in small, rural hospitals - the hospital floor is often something akin to the level of care of a nursing home or rehab facility while the ICU, has a level of care roughly equivalent to a modern, up-to-date hospital floor.
Put another way, the only way to get any sort of real care is to be in the ICU. Not to mention if you put someone in ICU you have more control of visitors which could be a key consideration in this case.

So I guess Cheney won't be going hunting for the rest of his term.

I thought this guy was supposedly shot at 30 yards with #9 shot? Something does not add up here. The doctor tried to explain this, though I don't think the press actually listened. He is rather heavyset and said it would be less likely in his case that such penetration would have occurred (more flesh to go through), but he basically said that Whittington is bony chested making such a penetration much more likely.

That female doc has Whittington on the way to the grave. What a NON professional to question his hospital docs.

What really frosts me is the press has no regard for Whittington's family or for how a sitting VP must be beating himself up 24/7 since Saturday afternoon.
Like the reporters have never made a mistake, for crying out loud. It's something the VP will never get over.

Left off the sarc tag.
Didn't you get the memo? It is no big deal. Happens all the time. I've been sprayed myself many times. Nothing to see. Move along...

It's probably a good thing that I don't have a gun right now. That makes two of us. I'm listening to one of the empty heads on FNC and I just have to resign myself to the fact that I am going to hear all sorts of hysterical and inaccurate reporting on this for days.
