I just heard from a local radio reporter (during Rush newsbreak at approximately 1:00 p.m) that Whittington "may have taken a turn for the worse," and was put back into intensive care.

But why borrow sorrow? It's your perrogative to speculate to your hearts content, but I simply find it to be unproductive (especially given the positive medical reports as we know them so far) and a waste of time and energy.

Returning the due respect, I also find it to be a distraction to the thread. But we've been battling trolls all over these threads today and I suppose I'm just becoming weary of it.

it would be awfully tempting to stereotype you as a dumb redneck who isn't capable of reading a long sentence and understanding it.

But I won't do that. I'll just assure you that while I do eat lots of salad, it is not a matter of being opposed to meat on cultural or ethical grounds. It's because I am at high risk for cardiovascular disease. Also, it makes me feel healthier than my old, red-state diet did.

Other than that and a couple of other things, I'm basically a Middle American, more comfortable with most FReepers than with most "blue" Rats.

There are many, many people like me in California. Your hatred of California reminds me of the anti-Americanism abroad. While there is some basis for it, it is still basically irrational, and the haters should look in the mirror and ask themselves what it's really about.

Hate people for how they behave, not for where they live.

There are no reasonable alternatives in the modern world, I grant you. But if it were me I'd be unreasonable and check out of the hospital, fibrillations notwithstanding. Almost everybody in my family has either died or had a close brush with death because of a hospital stay---something that would not have happened but for the hospital. So I'm sort of biased. :)

In the Midwest, which is considered the "battle ground" for 2008, this is going to go over like a fart in church.
