The Incredible Hulk is now a county sheriff's department reserve deputy.

Lou Ferrigno, 54, who played the green-skinned monster on the CBS TV show from 1977 to 1982, was sworn in during a ceremony Monday night.
"My father was a police officer with the New York Police Department; I've always had a high respect for officers," Ferrigno told The Associated Press. "I want to give back to the community, and I want to work with young kids, help them get off drugs."
Ferrigno began training to become a reserve deputy last September after passing a background check. He completed training in firearms, first aid, and high speed driving techniques and was recognized as "an outstanding trainee" by Sheriff Lee Baca.
Ferrigno will serve at least 20 hours a month, help recruit new deputies and work with the sheriff's Youth Activities League and the Special Victims Bureau, which assists abused children.
Ferrigno was a bodybuilder before he starred on the TV show. The late actor Bill Bixby played mild-mannered scientist David Bruce Banner who, as Ferrigno, turned into a Herculean, green-skinned monster whenever he lost his temper. He switched back to Bixby's character as soon as he calmed down.
In recent years, Ferrigno has appeared as himself on the CBS sitcom "The King of Queens."
He don't need no stinkin' badge. 8^)
Another way for well-connected Hollywood celebs to get CCW permits?
Deputy Ferrigno wouldn't need to shoot the bad guy, he'd just push the bullet in with his thumb!
(thanks to Mike Resnick, Re: "Man Mountain Bates," "SANTIAGO")
I think Ferrigno and Shaq should go undercover together.
"Another way for well-connected Hollywood celebs to get CCW permits?"
Possibly, but under the new law, if his creds are real creds, that is now a federal CCW permit. hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
The county will be sorry when they get the bill for all his ripped shirts.
However, he'll be great at traffic accidents if they have to move a car and can't wait for a tow truck. They'll just have to put up with a little mild growling.
If I remember the Bill Bixby series correctly, if there is a puppy or a blind girl trapped in a burning building, there is no one better to have around than Ferrigno.
"Mr. Bank Robber, don't make me angry. You wouldn't like me when I'm angry."
BTW, if either of you are interested in becoming reserve or auxiliary police officers, it is generally not a complicated process. unfortunately, it does not gernerally come with a gun permit. These guys get called up for disasters and special events like parades.
Ferrigno has been 80% deaf since the age of three after an ear infection. He sees his loss of hearing as influential towards bodybuilding and his life: "...if I hadn't lost some of my hearing, I wouldn't be where I am now. It forced me to maximize my own potential. I had to be better than the average person to succeed."

Brokebadge Mountain???
I was even going to go there, I would have said "Brokeshaq Mountain," but even that is weak.
Contrary to some other posters, I am extremely impressed with Mr. Ferrigno. He appears to be a highly ethical person who seems to a dedicated citizen/volunteer. He has more morals and decency than 99% of the Hollywood riff-raff, a true gentleman.
My other Hollywood hero is Gary Sinese, another really outstanding human being, currently in Iraq.

What can I say? Some of us have other Hollywood heros.
