Al Gore Event Funded by Bin Laden's Family

The Saudi Arabia seminar that was addressed by former Vice President Al Gore over the weekend in a speech that criticized the U.S. for being too tough on Arabs was sponsored, in part, by Osama bin Laden's family.

On Saturday, the state-run Saudi news outlet Arab News reported that the Jeddah Economic Forum, where Gore spoke, was funded by "Saudi Arabian Airlines, the Saudi Binladin Group, Gulf One Investment Bank, Saudi Basic Industries Corp." and an array of other big companies with ties to the Middle East.

The Saudi BinLadin Group - which is Saudi Arabia's largest construction company - is run by Osama bin Laden's brothers and cousins. Jeddah, the site of the forum attended by Gore, is Osama bin Laden's hometown.

Although family members claim they've disowned bin Laden, his mother told reporters after the 9/11 attacks that she received advanced warning from him that something big was about to happen.

A wealthy bin Laden niece also reportedly abandoned her lower Manhattan apartment three weeks before the 9/11 attacks.

The BinLadin Group's longtime involvement in the Jeddah forum has been widely reported in the Mideast and European press.

In January 2002, ex-President Clinton addressed the JEF, which paid him $267,000 for his speech. According to London's Financial Times:

"The conference was dominated by the Saudis' desire to overcome the pressures of September 11 and strengthen U.S.-Saudi ties . . . The BinLadin Group, one of the forum's backers, has been battered by its association with Osama."

I read that Ahmadinejad is traveling to Cuba this week and Carter is going there, too. Any bets on Chavez joining them?

Sean Hannity had the rumor of this yesterday. Wonder what Rush will have to say? More, I hope there is video to use in 2008.

Other JEF speakers that year included President Bush's younger brother, Neil.

I have missed parts of this thread, but found this interesting after I was able to open the link and read the rest of the story (problems on my end)

The Bush brother we don't hear much about....ping

I saw that last night and will bet the Bush family is not very pleased with Neil. Not that they ever are. He's definitely the black sheep of the family.

Peach,

You don't understand. This is not news.

The VP accidentally sprayed a fellow hunter with bird shot, that's news -- and the press trying to find a way to make VP Cheney resign.

That's for sure. I think we could bomb Iran AND North Korea today and the press wouldn't notice. LOL

Can we just re-print that headline OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER again????? Love it!

Finally, we as Republicans GET it! This is how to play PR wars with the Dims...a page right out of their play book. Love it.

Al Gore hasn't been able to hold down any other kind of job since he lost his gig working for the government.

Hey,

I wouldn't have known about the tens of thousands of students marching in Iran against their government had it not been on the internet.

Here is Iran, a major threat to the U.S., and the young people there attempting to forment a revolution to overthrow said repressive and dangerous govt., and the media here ignores it.

But, let three naked girls sit in a cage and protest Kentucky Fried Chicken for chicken cruelty, and it makes all the major networks and the AP wire.

I have NO respect for the MSM, and what I saw yesterday at the WH press conference has made me even more determined to see their continued downfall.

You won't hear any criticism of Al Gore on the news, except for maybe on Fox News.

However, I did make a point to email this thread to all my liberal friends, particularly my ultra-liberal Jewish, pro Israel friend. It's up to us to educate/inform others, the press won't do it.

And, sometimes it makes a difference. This same above-mentioned friend used to send money to PETA, now he detests them.

Democrats = accept money from terrorists.

Republicans = cut off money to terrorists.

Why would they want to give the full story there. I wonder what the coverage of Iran will be in about 3-4 years? Assuming of course, we invade...

Did you read the thread about Ted Turner's billion dollar donation to the UN a while ago? Wonder if there's any connection there, to how things are portrayed in the MSM. The UN certainly seems to give a great voice to communists, terrorists, and dictators.

yank,

Didn't see the donation to the UN by Turner, but it doesn't surprise me. He's been a big contributor/supporter of the U.N. for a long time.

My guess is AFTER Israel invades, with our support and maybe even assistance, the press will discover this big story.

That is, unless they have bigger news going on that day, like a hunting accident or a Bush manufactured hurricane, or Bush pronouncing the word "nuclear" wrong.

Or three naked girls on street corner protesting a chicken restaurant :)
