I just wish the military would let them sign up and ship them off to boot camp.

Send them into those Afghan mountains. Maybe they can bring Bin Laden out with the scent of their fresh-baked cookies.

Sign 'em up. Issue 'em tap shoes. Point 'em toward a minefield.

heartbroken and enraged over the enormous loss of life While any loss of American life is regrettable, the amount of fatal casulties in Iraq are far from enormous. Long live America, up the Republic!

I think there are plenty of Grannies, as well as Grandpas, that are hopping mad at what the terrorists have done to this country and would be happy to try to enlist in order to defend their kids and grandkids.
I think the best thing that FReepers could do would be to find some of them and encourage them to show up in far greater numbers than the anti-war grannies. And BTW, I think most conservatives, FReepers, and grannies are against war, but realize the need for us to finish and win what the terrorists started.

Suter, a 53-year-old grandmother of two, reacted. Within seconds, she rushed to the scuffle.
"I have a concealed weapons permit," she announced as she whipped out the .40-caliber semiautomatic handgun she keeps in her purse.
"Either drop the knife, or I'll shoot you," she said as she held the weapon to the man's face.

Put 'em on permanent KP and set them to peeling potatoes with dull knives.
Crawling under barbwire on their backs in the cold mud with a machine gun firing overhead might be good for them, too.

Gonna have to be some pretty young grannies. Although the maximum age for a first enlistment was raised last month from 35 to 40.

Don't you have to be accepted to enlist? Would it be more accurate to say that the Grannies are planning to attempt to enlist?

Allow them to enlist and then send them to outer Afghanistan to carry water to the troops.
To: Rand-El
I hope they get signed up by the recruiters immediately.
We need some people who can help locate and disarm IED's.
These gray-haired old bats should do the trick.

It certainly would be interesting if they came and found about 10 people lined up already...people who would let legitimate recruits ahead of them in line. Standing at the end of a line is not a very good protest. And I notice that they don't even start until 2. But you'd have to cover every service.
