Howard Dean: Dick Cheney 'Cannot Remain in Office'
NewsMax ^ | 2/12/06 | NewsMax

Posted on 02/12/2006 12:08:27 PM PST by wagglebee

Democratic National Committee chairman Howard Dean said Sunday that Vice President Dick Cheney "cannot remain in office" if he ordered his chief of staff, Scooter Libby, to leak classified information to the press.

But in the next breath Dean falsely claimed that Libby himself had "been indicted for leaking information."

Appearing on CBS's "Face the Nation," Dean said: "It may be that the vice president leaked security information in a time of war in order to discredit political opponents. I don't think the vice president has any credibility on national security whatsoever and I think he's in deep trouble."

Referring to reports last week that said Libby told the Leakgate grand jury that his "superiors" authorized him to leak classified intelligence on the Iraq war, the DNC chief contended:

"If it turns out that Scooter Libby, who said this week that his superiors ordered him to leak the information for political reasons, then this vice president may not be vice president very much longer."

Moments later Dean added: "If that's true the vice president cannot remain in office."

Pressed on what he meant, Dean explained:

"If it turns out that what Scooter Libby testified . . . to the grand jury, that his superior ordered him, or suggested that he leak the information to the press in order to discredit one of their political opponents - if that happened in a time of war - then the vice president cannot sit in the office he now occupies."

Asked if he would favor an "impeachment proceeding" for Cheney, Dean said: "That's getting a little far down the road. First we have to find out of it's true."

Despite his incendiary rhetoric, Dean managed to get a key detail about the case wrong, when he told "Face the Nation": "It's been alleged by Scooter Libby, who's been indicted for leaking information, that his superiors ordered him to leak that information."

In fact, the Libby indictment has nothing to do with "leaking information," but instead alleges that the top Cheney aide made false statements to prosecutors.

"And when in the name of all that's holy will we see Rockefeller prosecuted for this?" I think it's on the "Things To Do" list right after Kennedy's trial for the murder of Mary-Jo, Traitor Kerry's trial for Treason, the Clinton's and Gore's trials for selling the Secrets to the Chinese and N. Koreans. Yep! won't be long now

Boy, Howard might as well throw himself in front of his own moving car and end this.
I don't know if I've seen a worse politician outside of Gore, Kerry or Carter in my life.

If it turns out that Mr. Dean knows what was testified to in the grand Jury then Mr. Dean and Mr. Fitzpatrick will have some explaining to do.

Dean did try and come off as a hunter and a good ol boy, back during the '04 campaign. Even Ruddy told us not to dismiss him completely, as he might have a bit of gun cred and wasn't really a liberal. I think Ruddy might have a bit different opinion of Howie right about now, but I do think that to make amends, Howard SHOULD go hunting with Cheney and Scalia, donkey hunting... with 30 ought 6's, somewhere out in the distant mountains. where bodies are seldom found.

Dean is desperately thinking of ways to motivate his base.
The only way he knows now is to be against everything the GOP or Bush is for. He is probably against hunting birds after today's Cheney shooting accident.

Cheney cannot order a subordinate to commit a felony. Libby is a lawyer and knows this. If there is no violation of law because Plame was not covered by the covert clause, then Libby was exercising his first amendment rights and playing hardball. Tough shit for the democrats if they don't like it.

Everyone needs to keep remembering that Dr. Dean accomplished exactly what he set out to accomplish - get the word IMPEACHMENT into the MSM vernacular. The RATs want all of America to get used to the "I" word and to start writing and calling their congresscriters so that when the RATS take the house in Jan 07 (ha ha) they are all ready to pull the plug. This is part of the RAT agenda and they repeat it over and over on all the Err Amerika talk shows 24/7. They are deadly serious about this and in fact they are launching a campaign (or trying to) that says "Hey we will support your election, or re-election, in Nov '06 if you pledgge to bring forth articles of impeachment." They cannot stand the thought of another 3 years of GWB and Cheney. Impeach them both and we will have Nancy "The Brain" Pelosi in the WH as President (House speaker next in succession). Think about that and fear it like you have never feared anything in your life. The GOP must maintain the house in '06 above all else.

Doctor Dean, you are becoming more and more divorced from reality. Not only are your rabid assertions untrue but, even if they were true, they could not hold a candle to 1) selling nuclear technology to the Red Chinese, 2)refusing to take custody of Osama Bin Laden 3)pardoning violent terrorists 4)pardoning Interpol's most wanted international public enemy, et al. Go to the corner of the room and scream.
