The blizzard watch is now in effect from Saturday evening through Sunday morning.

Snow will begin by early Saturday evening... and become heavy at times Saturday night. Northeast winds will also increase Saturday night to 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph... causing blizzard conditions along with considerable blowing and drifting of snow.

By the time the snow ends late Sunday morning... accumulations should average 6 to 12 inches... with locally higher amounts possible. The highest totals are most likely to occur across eastern portions of Long Island and southeast Connecticut.

A blizzard watch means there is a potential for falling and or blowing snow with strong winds and extremely poor visibilities. This can lead to white-out conditions and make travel very dangerous.

I'm stocked up with supplies and intend on staying put...I might venture out to Central Park to admire natural splendor, etc. etc.

The city is pretty well set. Estimates endlessly repeated on the news is the cost of snow removal is about $1 million per inch.

The problem with spitting from a high rise apartment is that there are too many variables against it...the wind, the velocity of the spit, the distance...I mean it's just impossible to hit a target from so high up, especially a moving target. Water balloons are good. Bags of used cat litter are even better.

I used to like doing that. One of the great pleasures in life is coming in from the cold into a warm house, getting comfy and kicking back. DVDs, books, food - ahhh! I used to call it 'lockdown' and I used to do it primarily for very bad weather, and also for the gay pride weekend ('cause I lived downtown and it is a freakshow, AND the narrow streets downtown are just not well suited to a parade in any event).

That's what I'm planning to do. The storm is not supposed to hit my area untill tomorrow night. So, tomorrow morning I'll be going out, stocking up on food supplies (assuming that any food is still on the shelves when I get to the supermarket). And just before the storm hits, I'm expecting a couple of DVDs coming in the mail tomorrow afternoon (Thank you Netflix and Blockbuster Online). Plus I have quite a few other DVDs sitting around the house that I have as of yet to watch. Plus a whole boxfull of used books came in todays mail (a birthday present from my sister) that I've been looking forward to all week long.

The thing I'm not looking forward to is returning to work on Monday night (I work nights). I hope the streets will be somewhat cleared by then. Though thankfully, the family has a '99 Lexus SUV that can handle even worse conditions.

Did I ever tell you my fave Oak Room memory? A silver haired, elegant trophy wife in her 60s left her table with her elderly husband (80s) and their friend (also 80s) and as she passed my table, she gave my shoulder/neck 'the squeeze' behind hubby's back. Could have been my lucky night if I had a thing for silver haired, goodlooking women in their 60s.

My pal Carl never let me live that down! "You let that one go!" :-)

Enjoy it! I like coziness and one of the things I miss from nyc is just the simple pleasure of being home on a very cold day, or during a blizzard or hard rain.

Las Vegas does have its advantages, though. My new neighborhood as lots of hot young women in 1/2-tshirts. Actually my old apt complex had that, too, but now i live in a gated community of townhouse condos that a good portion are rented. Lots of babes!

All that and 70-75deg and sunny this weekend.
