The blizzard watch is now in effect from Saturday evening through Sunday morning.
Snow will begin by early Saturday evening... and become heavy at times Saturday night. Northeast winds will also increase Saturday night to 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph... causing blizzard conditions along with considerable blowing and drifting of snow.
By the time the snow ends late Sunday morning... accumulations should average 6 to 12 inches... with locally higher amounts possible. The highest totals are most likely to occur across eastern portions of Long Island and southeast Connecticut.
A blizzard watch means there is a potential for falling and or blowing snow with strong winds and extremely poor visibilities. This can lead to white-out conditions and make travel very dangerous.

Even, better I live outside of Chicago.
Unbelievable, isn't it?!?!
When I was 16 I made $160 (probably $300 in today's dollars) in tips one day just pulling people out of their little snow drifts with my Jeep.
A St. Bernard with a small barrel of brandy would be handy too. :)
I was shoveling snow all day during the Nor'ester blizzard of December, 2003. We saw about 24 inches in Morganville. I survived to see the morning. Spring came for my family I left behind in Jersey.
BTW, they predicted 3-6 inches at most.
Of course, if I'm stuck here Sunday night I'll be flipping out with the natives...
Snow is also in the forecast for the Richmond Virginia area. Although we do NOT have a blizzard warning, the idiots have seen the word "snow" in the weather forecast, and have cleared the store shelves of all food staples. I also believe schools were closed at noon today, in anticipation of the snow, which is expected Saturday morning. I have never seen anything like it. Long lines at gas stations also in anticipation of the first snow flake. I'm also expecting riots to break out any moment with pilfering, looting, and shootings taking place. But, wait a minute. This is Richmond Virginia, and this takes place EVERY day, even Sunny days!!
Forget about the corruption in Washington, D.C.
It is a strange sight to actually see everything in D.C. being white!!
Great tagline!!!
Do you know what they are calling for in Baltimore?
You're right.
I'm very eager to photograph the monuments in the snow.
I'd particularly like to get photographs of Mount Vernon in the snow.
Speaking of Global Warming. When Slick was president any unusual weather was blamed on El Nino. Now if anything is at all out of the norm it is W's fault for causing Global Warming. I repeat this often to the ill-informed around me.
Probably 12 inches of snow, plus the same rioting, looting, pilfering, and shooting that Richmond, Virginia is expecting :-)
Thanks!!
I just wish I had been clever enough to think it up on my own.......
Looks like Nashville's 4th might have been snow so far this year.
It's a pain in the butt living in a perennial snow line
NYC was sorta like that when I lived there too....snow in Rockland county and zip in Manhattan
Here in Nashville, it's snow at my house and down the hill 5-600 feet.... rain.
More voter fraud, apparently.
WHAT?????
...I probably should have kept that to myself. Sorry.
As of 9 PM ET, the blizzard watch has been extended to Providence and Boston.
Snowfall rates 2 - 3 inches per hour.
