The blizzard watch is now in effect from Saturday evening through Sunday morning.

Snow will begin by early Saturday evening... and become heavy at times Saturday night. Northeast winds will also increase Saturday night to 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph... causing blizzard conditions along with considerable blowing and drifting of snow.

By the time the snow ends late Sunday morning... accumulations should average 6 to 12 inches... with locally higher amounts possible. The highest totals are most likely to occur across eastern portions of Long Island and southeast Connecticut.

A blizzard watch means there is a potential for falling and or blowing snow with strong winds and extremely poor visibilities. This can lead to white-out conditions and make travel very dangerous.

Be safe with that generator...I don't know the safety rules but maybe someone else does. I think you have to be careful about carbon monoxide but I'm not sure how.

Just talked to my Aunt outside Nashville and they had some snow last night but not enough to really stick. Just in case, they made a grocery store run anyway!

Being in the 6 to 12 range, I've stocked up on all of the essentials....wine, bourbon and beer. Should be a great weekend!

We are on the coast just south of Boston. We got an upgrade to 12-16 inches total from the 4:23 PM forecast. The screaming winds close to the water here where I live brings down the power lines.

The windchill with temps in the teens and winds to 60mph will get your attention.

Sunday Night Cloudy with snow showers in the evening...then partly cloudy with a chance of snow after midnight. Total accumulation of 12 to 16 inches. Very windy with lows around 17. Northwest winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 60 mph...decreasing to 20 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph after midnight.

Actually, we don't even have a generator. If the power does go out, I'm FReepless in FReattle.

It's been snowing all day long, big wet flakes, but it's 32 degrees and it's not accumulating very quickly. Looks like we've got a little more than an inch after about ten hours of snowfall. (And we were in the 6-12" band.) I don't think it's going to be as bad as anticipated, at least not in the mid-Atlantic area. Maybe NYC will get blasted, but we're probably out of the woods.

I haven't been outside but we got 6 or 8" here. Almost all of it came after 10pm and was over early this morning.

We did get a storm so I'll give them that. Just not in the size or time frame they said.
